As part of the research on the formation process of worldviews outside of Christian tradition in the cultural history of modern Germany, this paper is concerned with the German youth movement beginning with the Wandervogel associations in the early 20th century. Its analysis is focused on the writings, songs, proclamations, meeting records, etc. as primary sources produced by the youth involved in the Wandervogel at that time. This paper follows the trajectory of the youth movement, differentiating it by periods of development and by points of change in its worldview and reality and looks at the process of the Wandervogel’s development dividing it into three stages. The First World War was the decisive point of change in the worldview of the Wandervogel. Inquiring into what the world the German youth dreamed of a century ago looked like, what the problems of the older generation and of modern society were from their point of view, we can see that in our reality of the present day certain unchanged truths lie in the symptoms of an old crisis.

독일 근현대 문화사 속에서 기독교 전통 바깥의 세계관이 형성되는 과정을 찾는 연구의 일 환으로, 본고에서는 20세기 전반기 ‘반더포겔(Wandervogel)’로 시작된 독일 청소년 운동을 다룬다. 반더포겔에 속한 청소년들이 당대에 작성한 글, 노래, 선언, 모임 일지 등의 1차 문헌들 을 집중적으로 분석한다. 청소년 운동의 시기별 전개양상, 세계관과 실천의 변화지점을 분석 한다. 제1차 세계대전은 반더포겔 세계관의 전환점이었다. 반더포겔의 가치관과 지향점의 시 기별 변화를 세 단계로 나누어서 분석한다. 백 년 전 독일 청소년들이 꿈꾸었던 세계가 어떠했는지, 그리고 그들이 바라보는 기성세대 와 근대 세계의 문제점이 무엇인지를 찾아가다보면, 현재 우리의 모습이 근대성이 불러 온 오 래된 위기의 징후들 속에 여전히 놓여 있다는 사실을 알게 된다.
