Since the publication of the novel The Autumn of the Patriarch by García Márquez, literary critics have been analyzing it from various angles. Many studies have included it among the novels of dictators to talk about power, dictatorship, violence, inhumanity and solitude. Other critics have paid special attention to the mythology, analyzing not only Judeo-Christian myths but also Colombian and Latin American myths. But if one stands back and contemplate it, he can realize that the whole text is composed as a collage. Based on these dominant features of the text, this study attempts to approximate it from the point of view of intertextuality, analyzing how hypotexts are hidden and modified to reveal the characteristics of the writing of this work. In particular, it will examine the Diario of Christopher Columbus and the three poems by Ruben Dario. In this novel the principal function of intertextuality is parody. A repeated word and phrase never means the same; never identically repeats. Garcia Marquez employs this process of signification in a playful way in his works. Thus, repetition ceases to be a process that produces an inferior copy to become a creative process.

『족장의 가을』은 출간 이후 다양한 각도에서 연구되었다. 가장 대표적인 경우가 이 작품을 독재자 소설로 분류하면서 권력의 문제와 독재체제의 폭력, 그리고 비인간성과 고독의 문제를 다 루는 것이었다. 그리고 이 소설에서 사용된 신화도 특별한 관심의 대상이 되면서, 기독교 신화뿐만 아니라 콜롬비아와 다른 라틴아메리카 국가의 신화도 연구되었다. 그런데 이 소설을 살펴보면 무 엇보다도 콜라주로 구성되어 있음을 알 수 있다. 이런 특징에 바탕을 두고 이 글은 상호텍스트성 관점에서 여러 밑텍스트가 어떻게 감추어지고 변 형되는지 알아보면서, 가르시아 마르케스 글쓰기의 특징을 알아보려고 한다. 특히 콜럼버스의 『콜 럼버스 항해록』과 루벤 다리오의 여러 시를 중심으로 살펴보고자 한다. 이 작품에서 가장 눈에 띄 는 상호텍스트성 기능은 패러디이다. 다른 글의 반복, 즉 상호텍스트성은 권위와 중심의 해체를 의 미한다. 가르시아 마르케스는 이것이 상정하는 의미화 과정을 즐기면서, 유희적 방식으로 자기 작 품에 사용한다. 그렇게 반복은 열등한 사본을 생산하는 과정이 아니라, 창조적 과정이 된다.
