The third argument (155e4-157b5) of the second part of Plato’s Parmenides, the so-called 'instant argument', is a very heterogeneous part considering the symmetry of the entire argument of the second Part. So, except for Parmenides- interpretation of Neoplatonism, this argument has been defined as an extension of the previous two arguments, not a new argument that is distinct from most other arguments. However, the 'instant argument' also has a content specificity that cannot be regarded merely as an amplification of the preceding arguments. This study intends to elucidate the content specificity of 'instant argument' in relation to other arguments. To this end, this study examines the interpretation that considers the 'instant argument' as independent from the preceding arguments and the interpretation that considers the 'instant argument' as amplification of the preceding arguments in turn, and suggests the meaning and problem of each interpretation. In addition, an alternative interpretation that can solve the difficulties of these two interpretations are presented, and the meaning of 'instant argument' is defined while developing and specifying an alternative interpretation. Thus, this study refutes the concept of 'instant' as 'soul' of interpreters who regard 'instant argument' as an independent argument, and criticizes also the 'instant' as an absolute attribute of the Idea of interpreters who regard it as a paraphrase of the preceding argument. It reveals that the concept of 'instant' is related to the dynamic existence of 'thought(dianoia)'.

플라톤의 『파르메니데스』 2부의 세 번째 논의(155e4-157b5), 이른바 ‘순간 논증’은 2부 전체 논증들의 대칭성을 고려할 때 매우 이질적인 부분이다. 그래서 이 부분은 신플라톤주 의적인 『파르메니데스』 해석을 제외하고 대부분 다른 논증들과 구별된 새로운 논증이 아니라, 앞의 두 논증의 부연으로 규정되어 왔다. 그런데 ‘순간 논증’은 단순히 앞 논증들의 부연 이라고 볼 수 없는 내용적인 특이성 또한 지니고 있다. 본 연구는 ‘순간 논증’이 지니는 이러 한 내용적인 특이성을 다른 논증들과의 관계 안에서 해명하고자 한다. 이를 위해 본 연구는 ‘순간 논증’을 앞 논증들과 구별해서 독립적으로 간주하는 해석과 앞 논증들의 부연으로 간주하는 해석을 차례로 검토하고 각 해석의 의미와 한계를 제시한 다. 그리고 이 두 해석의 난점을 해소할 수 있는 대안적인 해석을 제시하고 그 해석을 발전 시키고 구체화 시키면서 ‘순간 논증’의 의미를 규정한다. 그리하여 본 연구는 ‘순간 논증’을 독립적인 논증으로 간주하는 해석자들의 ‘영혼’으로서 의 ‘순간’ 개념도 반박하고, 앞 논증의 부연으로 간주하는 해석자들의 이데아의 절대적 속성 으로서의 ‘순간’ 개념도 비판하면서, 결국 ‘순간’ 개념이 ‘사유’라는 역동적인 존재와 관련되 어 있음을 밝힌다.
