The purpose of this study is to provide basic data to su ggest future research directions in the design field by syst ematically organizing research trends related to the 4th in dustrial revolution and design. To analyze research trends, we selected ‘fourth industrial revolution’ and ‘design’ as ke ywords and collected journal articles through a thesis sear ch site. The collected papers were classified into the year of publication, journal, key word, research content, and res earch method, and research trends were analyzed. As a re sult of analyzing the research trend, research related to th e 4th industrial revolution and design has been conducted in earnest since 2016, and has been mainly published in ac ademic journals related to arts and physical education. Ke y words of the study showed a large distribution of design methodology, convergence technology, design education, d esign types, and design concepts. As for the contents of the study, research on the design proposal and the researc h on the direction and capability of the design showed a large distribution. Most of the research methods were qual itative research methods. Based on these results, the resea rch direction suggested in this study, first, it is necessary to expand the research method. Second, there is a need for research to rethink the role of designers and redefine their capabilities. Third, research on interdisciplinary convergen ce is needed. Design should create new design value thro ugh convergence with various disciplines as well as with technology. In particular, humanistic thinking in design is an essential element, and fusion with it is necessary. Ther e is a need to find a way to increase the value of design through convergence with business administration and ed ucation.

본 연구는 4차 산업혁명과 디자인에 관한 연구 동향을 체계 적으로 정리하여 향후 디자인 분야의 연구 방향을 제시할 기 초자료 제공을 목적으로 한다. 연구 동향 분석을 위해 ‘4차 산 업혁명’과 ‘디자인’을 키워드로 정하여 논문검색 사이트를 통 해 학술지 논문을 수집하였다. 수집된 논문의 게재연도, 게재 학술지, 주제어, 연구내용, 연구방법으로 구분하여 연구 동향 을 분석하였다. 연구 동향을 분석한 결과 4차 산업혁명과 디자 인에 관련한 연구는 2016년 이후부터 본격적으로 진행되었으 며, 주로 예술체육학 관련 학술지에 게재되었다. 연구의 주제 어는 디자인 방법론, 융합기술, 디자인 교육, 디자인 유형, 디자 인 개념에 관한 주제어가 가장 많은 분포를 보였다. 연구내용 을 분석한 결과 4차 산업혁명의 패러다임 변화에 적응하기 위 한 디자인의 제안에 관한 연구와 디자인의 방향과 디자인 역 량을 탐색한 연구가 상대적으로 많은 분포를 보이는 것으로 나타났다. 연구방법은 문헌을 조사하거나 사례 분석을 통해 결 론을 도출하는 질적연구방법이 대부분이었다. 이러한 결과를 바탕으로 본 연구에서 제시하는 연구방향은 다음과 같다. 첫 째, 연구방법의 확대와 다양화가 필요하다. 둘째, 디자이너의 역할을 재고하고 역량을 재정립하기 위한 연구가 필요하다. 셋 째, 학문 간 융합에 관한 연구가 필요하다. 디자인은 그 특성상 기술과의 융합뿐만 아니라 경영학, 교육학 등 다학제적 연구를 필요로 한다. 특히 디자인에서 인문학적 사고는 필수 요소이므 로 이와의 융합 또한 매우 중요하다. 따라서 이를 통해 디자인 의 가치를 높이고 저변을 확대할 수 있는 기회와 방안을 모색 할 필요가 있다.
