The purpose of this study was to examine the context of emotional labor of early childhood teachers in managing challenging behaviors of young children. For this, 10 early childhood teachers participated in this study for which 18 individual interviews were conducted with the participants. The interview data were recorded and transcribed. The collected data were categorized and qualitative analysis was conducted. Results of this study were as follow: First, early childhood teachers experienced emotional labor due to the distrust of teacher guidance and conflicts over their roles as teachers in managing challenging behavior of young children. This included the categories of the different perspectives of teachers and parents regarding child development, misunderstood as evasion of responsibility for challenging behavior of young children. Second, early childhood teachers experienced emotional labor when they perceived their limits as teachers for managing challenging behavior of young children. This included the categories of conflict and confusion between struggles, self-blame, and limitations of individual instruction and repetition of exhaustion. Based on the results of this study, paths to promoting professionalism and teacher support were discussed to reduce early childhood teachers' emotional labor.

본 연구는 유아교사가 영유아 문제행동지도에서 경험하는 감정노동의 맥락을 살펴보고자 하였다. 이를 위하 여 10명의 유아교사를 대상으로 18회 개별면담을 실시하였다. 면담자료는 녹음, 전사하고 범주화하여 질적분석 을 실시하였다. 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 유아교사는 영유아 문제행동지도 과정에서 지도에 대한 불신과 교사 역할 갈등으로 감정노동을 경험하였다. 여기에는 부모와 유아발달관에 대한 상이한 시각과 체감, 교사 책 임회피 오해의 범주가 포함되었다. 둘째, 유아교사는 영유아 문제행동지도의 한계 인식으로 인하여 감정노동을 경험하였다. 여기에는 힘겨루기와 자책의 연속, 개별지도 한계와 소진의 반복 범주가 포함되었다. 본 연구결과 를 중심으로 영유아 문제행동지도에서 유아교사 감정노동 경감과 교사 지원에 대하여 논의하였다.
