In order to promote the sound development and development of the private investigation industry in modern society, the need for legislation of the private investigation system is increasing. To this end, it is time for research to explore and present the appropriate scope of private investigation work. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to present the appropriate scope for private investigation work and to derive factors that can apply private investigation work to industrial security, and to re-classify and present areas that can be applied to industrial security. Preliminary private survey indicators were organized by analyzing previous studies as a way to identify this purpose, and preliminary private survey business indicators that can be applied to industrial security were summarized through expert meetings. After that, opinions of a group of 30 experts with expertise were collected to derive appropriate factors among the 41 tasks constituting this preliminary work index, and only areas in which opinions were positively consistent were selected. As a result, 5 tasks related to personal information, 3 tasks related to physical factors, 10 tasks related to illegal activities, 5 tasks related to credit information, and 10 tasks related to evidence collection were derived. As such, finally, 33 of the 41 private investigation (detective) tasks were derived from the areas of work that could be used for industrial security. The above results suggest that it is consistent with the opinions of a group of experts on the positive effects that may appear when introducing the private investigation system, and even shows the possibility that it can be applied as a means to strengthen industrial security.

현대사회에서 민간조사산업의 건전한 육성과 발전을 도모하기 위하여 민간조사 제도에 대한 입법화의 필요성이 증가하고 있다. 이를 위해 민간조사 업무의 적절한 범위를 탐색하고, 제시할 수 있는 연구가 필요한 시점이다. 따라서 이 연구는 민간조 사 업무에 적절한 범위를 제시하는 목적과 산업보안에 민간조사 업무를 적용할 수 있는 요소를 도출하고, 산업보안으로 적용될 수 있는 영역을 재분류를 하여 제시하 는데 목적이 있다. 이러한 목적을 규명하기 위한 방법으로 선행연구를 분석하여 예 비 민간조사업무지표를 구성하였고, 전문가 회의를 통하여 산업보안으로 적용할 수 있는 민간조사 예비업무지표를 정리하였다. 이후 이 예비업무지표를 구성하는 41개 의 업무 중에 적합한 요인을 도출하기 위하여 전문성을 갖춘 30명으로 구성된 전문 가집단의 의견을 수집하였으며, 의견이 긍정적으로 일치되는 영역만을 선택하였다. 결과, 인적사항 관련 조사활동 5개의 업무, 물적 요소 관련 조사활동 3개의 업무, 불법행위 관련 조사활동 10개의 업무, 신용정보 관련 조사활동 5개의 업무, 증거수집 관련 조사활동 10의 업무가 도출되었다. 이와 같이, 최종적으로 41개의 민간조사(탐 정)업무 중 33개의 업무를 산업보안에 활용될 수 있는 업무의 영역이 도출 되었다. 이상의 결과는 민간조사제도를 도입할 시 나타날 수 있는 긍정적인 효과에 대한 전 문가 집단의 의견에 일치를 보이는 것이며, 산업보안을 강화하기 위한 수단으로 적 용될 수 있을 것이라는 가능성마저 보여주는 것을 시사한다.
