This study compared the beauty and artistic characteristics of modern sports with dance, and explored the excellence of techniques and aesthetic characteristics of Artistic swimming. As a result, it was found that many of the aesthetic sports narrowed gap between the aesthetic nature and artistic characteristics with the use of creative form and motion techniques of dance. Artistic swimming is based on ballet, and the choreography uses modern dance creative techniques, and the basic moves are based on ballet movements, claiming sports art through aesthetic and artistic expressions. Despite the expansion of these sports areas, dance is indifferent to convergence with sports. Aesthetic sports must have collaboration with dancers to enhance the completeness of aesthetic expression as well as sports techniques. So the progress of aesthetic sports could become a new genre of dance, and be helpful for developing new career paths for dancers. Therefore, the expansion of aesthetic sports could be an opportunity to move forward with the development of a new genre of dance art. And I hope that dancers must also have interests and efforts in sports, and, as a result, coexist and develop with the aesthetic sports.

본 연구는 현대 스포츠의 미적 요소와 예술적 특성을 분석하기 위하여, 아티스틱스위밍의 기술적 탁월성과 무용의 미적 특성을 탐색하였다. 그 결과 미적스포츠의 많은 종목들은 무용의 창작한 형식과 동작 기법을 활용하여 스포츠의 미적 동질성과 예술적 간극를 좁히고 있음을 알 수 있다. 아티스틱스위밍은 발레를 모티브로 하여, 안무형식은 현대무용의 창작기법을 활용하고 있으며 기본 동작은 발레 동작에 착안하여 미적 특성과 예술적 표현을 통해 스포츠예술을 표방한다. 이러한 스포츠영역의 확대에도 불구하고 무용은 스포츠와의 융합에 무관심하다. 그러나 미적스포츠는 스포츠 기술뿐만 아니라 미적 표현의 완성도를 높이기 위해서 반드시 무용과 공존, 전문무용가들의 역할이 필요하다. 미적 스포츠의 발전은 곧 새로운 무용장르의 개발이자 미래 무용인들의 진로에 도움이 될 것이다. 따라서 미적스포츠의 확대는 무용예술 침범이 아니라 새로운 장르 개발로 나아갈 수 있는 기회로서, 무용인들의 스포츠에 대한 관심과 노력을 통해 상생하고 발전할 수 있기를 희망한다.
