Differences in Occupational Disease Occurrence by Type of Appointment of Health Managers

Purpose : The purpose of this study is to understand the change in the level of disease occurrence according to the type of health manager appointment using the occupational safety and health trend survey data. Methods : For this purpose, 1,731 establishments with 50 or more employees among 6,000 establishments in the manufacturing and service industries where health managers were appointed at the time were analyzed among the survey data on the manufacturing and service industries among the 2012 occupational safety and health trend survey data. Since the number of disease occurrences in the workplace is in the form of a count, it was analyzed using the null and excess negative binomial model. Results : Regarding the occurrence of occupational diseases, 94.3% of outsourcing cases and 97.8% of concurrent positions were higher than those of workplaces where health managers were appointed. In terms of the number of sick people, the case of appointing a health manager increased compared to other types of appointment. Conclusion : As a result of this study, it can be said that it is necessary to appoint a health manager to reduce occupational diseases in the workplace, and it can be said that efforts to improve other working conditions are necessary.
