The modern form of tourism is not only one of entertainment and leisure activities to see and enjoy, but also dark tourism aimed at overcoming lessons, mental and psychological healing, and past tragedies and taking a new leap forward. Currently, wars, terrorism, and various disasters occur frequently around the world, and it is the purpose of dark tourism to remember history and learn lessons in order to visit these historical places to commemorate them and not repeat the tragic past. This study started with the Seodaemun Prison, a representative place of dark tourism in Korea, which remains an indelible trace of the independence movement that experiences the sad history of the past and accuses Japanese imperialism. Through this direct experience of modern cultural heritage, we tried to find out how satisfied tourists feel and to what extent tourism satisfaction affects the intention to revisit dark tourism destinations. From this point of view, the purpose of this study is to suggest policy alternatives to attract many tourists and inspire patriotism by restoring and re-examining tragic and humiliating historical places and using them as sites of historical experience and education. Therefore, this study will contribute to enhancing the satisfaction level of dark tourism and enhancing the intention to revisit.

현대의 관광 형태는 오락성과 보고 즐기는 레저활동의 하나로 서만 아니라 교훈이나 정신적, 심리적 힐링, 그리고 과거의 비극 을 극복하고 새로운 재도약을 위한 특수목적관광을 목적으로 하 는 다크투어리즘 관광에 관광객이 점차 증가하는 추세에 있다. 현재 전 세계 곳곳에서는 전쟁과 테러, 각종 재난 등이 빈번하게 발생되고 있으며, 이러한 역사적인 장소를 방문하여 이를 추모하 고 비극적인 과거를 되풀이하지 않기 위해 역사를 기억하고 교 훈을 얻고자 하는 다크투어리즘 관광의 목적이라고 할 수 있다. 본 연구는 관광의 한 가지 형태로서 과거의 슬픈 역사를 체험하 며 배움을 얻고, 일제의 만행을 고발하는 독립운동의 현장으로 지워지지 않는 흔적으로 남아있는 우리나라 다크투어리즘의 대 표적인 장소인 서대문형무소 방문객을 대상으로 시작하게 되었 다. 우리나라 다크투어리즘 감옥관광을 대상으로 독립운동의 현 장에 대해 어떠한 관광가치를 느끼고 있는지, 이러한 근대문화유 산에 대한 직접 체험을 통하여 관광객들이 어느 정도 만족감을 느끼는지, 그리고 관광만족도가 다크투어리즘 관광지 재방문 의도에 어느 정도 영향을 미치는지를 파악하고자 하였다. 이러한 관점에서 다크투어리즘 관광지에 대한 체험을 통하여 비극적이고 치욕적인 역사적 장소를 복원하고 재조명하여 역사 체험과 교육의 현장으로 활용함으로써 많은 관광객을 유치하고 애국심을 고취시키고자 정책적 대안을 제시하는데 본 연구의 목적이 있다. 따라서 본 연구는 다크투어리즘 관광의 만족도 향상 을 제고하여 재방문 의도를 갖도록 높이는데 정책적 기여를 할 것이다.
