The role of teaching artists, one of the key players in culture and arts education, is expanding in the current trend where the social values and roles of culture and arts education are expanding and regional decentralization is accelerating. Thus, teaching artists have been faced with the immediate task of developing and implementing a program tailored to the region based on a multi-faceted understanding of the region beyond the personal artistic philosophy. However, there is a clear limit to relying solely on the capabilities and efforts of individual teaching artists to expand their roles and adapt to changes in the culture and arts education environment. Recently, as a way to overcome this limitation, there is an active discussion about the necessity and utility of a teaching artist network, and several attempts are being made to build a teaching artist network. Therefore, in this study, the network of teaching artist is presented as a way to enhance the rights and interests of art instructors and to promote proper culture and arts education and to verify the necessity and justification, an in-depth interview was conducted based on a total of seven Korean and overseas cases. It also aimed to derive implications for the establishment and continuation of the teaching artist network through the analysis of specific cases.

문화예술교육의 사회적 가치와 역할이 확대되고 지역 분권화가 가속화되고 있는 시류 속에서 문화예술교육의 핵 심 주체로서 손꼽을 수 있는 예술강사의 역할은 점점 확대되고 있으며, 예술강사들은 기존의 교육 방식과 개인의 예 술철학을 넘어 지역에 대한 다각도의 이해를 바탕으로 지역 맞춤형 프로그램을 개발·실행해야 하는 당면 과제에 놓 이게 되었다. 하지만 이 같은 역할의 확장과 문화예술교육 환경의 변화에 적응하는 것을 예술강사 개개인의 역량과 노력에만 의지하는 것은 분명한 한계가 있다. 최근 이 같은 한계성을 극복하려는 방안으로 예술강사 네트워크의 필 요성과 그 효용성에 대한 논의가 활발하게 이루어지고 있으며 실제로 예술강사 네트워크의 구축을 위한 여러 시도가 이어지고 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 예술강사의 권익 신장과 올바른 문화예술교육 진흥을 위한 방안으로 예술강사 네트워크 를 제시하며, 그 필요성과 당위성을 검증하기 위해 실제 총 여섯 개의 국내외 사례를 기반으로 심층 인터뷰를 진행하 였다. 더불어 구체적 선행 사례 분석을 통해 예술강사 네트워크의 확립과 지속을 위한 시사점을 도출하는 것을 목표로 하였다.
