In the lyrics of Heungboga, the origin and stage of Heungboga are Bokdeokchon, Seonghyeon-dong, Namwon-si. Currently, the two different villages, Seongsan-ri(城山里) Inwol-myeon Namwon-si and Seong-ri(城里) Ayeong-myeon Namwon-si, insist they are the original birthplace of Heungboga. As tracing the birthplace of Heungboga by historical records, fortress remains, and testimonies of residents appearing in Heungboga, Seong-ri, Ayeong-myeon does not appear at all. However, on the contrary, Seongsan-ri Inwol-myeon is estimated as the birthplace. In Heungboga, Seonghyeong-dong is at the border of Unbong-myeon Nanwon-si Jeonlabuk-do and Hamyang-gun Gyeongsanbuk-do. There is Pallyangchi-pass (八良峙) on the border and at the top of Pallyangchi-pass, Habmiseong Fortress is located. The meaning of Seonghyeong-dong(城峴洞) is village on the pass near fortress. Seonghyeong-dong is called as Seongbuk-dong because it is located northern edge of pallyangchi fortress. The place is one of the district of Seongsan-ri Inwol-myeon. Seonghyun-dong is recorded a village located in Pallyangchi pass and Bokdeokchon(福德村) is positioned under Pallyangchi pass in Heungboga. In Heungboga, Seonghyeon-dong was the village where Heungbo and Nolbo had lived, and Bokdeokchon was where Heungbo moved out and stayed. The old site of Bokdeokchon remains on the inn(酒幕) street below Seongsan-ri.

흥보가 사설에 흥보가의 발상지는 성현동 복덕촌이다. 현재 남원시 인월면 성산리(城山里)와 남원시 아영면 성리(城里)가 흥보가의 근원지라고 주장하고 있다. 흥보가 관련 지명과 역사 기록 및 성곽 유적, 주민들의 증언을 토대로 흥보가 발생지를 추적하였을 때, 아영면 성리는 흥보가에 전혀 나타나지 않 는다. 하지만 인월면 성산리는 발상지로 추정할 수 있다. 흥보가에서 성현동 (城峴洞)은 전라북도 남원시 운봉면과 경상북도 함양군의 경계에 위치한다. 그 경계에는 팔량치 고개가 있고, 팔량치(八良峙) 고개의 정상에는 합미성(合 米城)이 있다. 성현동은 성곽 근처에 있는 고개에 위치한 마을이란 뜻이다. 성현동은 팔량치성의 북쪽 외곽 지역에 위치하고 있어 성북동(城北洞)이라고 부른다. 성북동은 인월면 성산리를 말한다. 성현동은 흥보가에서 팔량치고개 에 위치한 마을로 기록되어 있고, 복덕촌(福德村)은 팔량치 고개 아래에 위치 한다고 하였다. 판소리 사설의 성현동은 흥보 놀보 두 형제가 살던 마을이고, 복덕촌은 흥보가 제금나서 살었던 마을이다. 복덕촌의 옛날터는 성산리 아래 주막(酒幕) 거리에 남아있다.
