Covid-19 became rather the foundation and basic situation to live with than a disease which is going to be gone away a little later. It changed not only every pattern at the work places and schools but every pattern at the church managing, preaching, the structures and tools of evangelizing people as well. Many new ways and plans applied to cope with these radical changes which are made without enough preparing studies and trials caused so many mistakes and problems in every field. This study focuses on the phenomenon that the more preachers are getting more concerned with the other congregations or non-christians who show their likes or criticism to their preachings posted on websites than the local congregations delegated to the preachers. In this way, these kinds of the preachers are getting lost of the given-standard for preachings. For this situation, this study would look into the coping plan which the right view and direction of Wesleyan for the people who want to be called as the Methodists want to say as the answer. As we look into Wesley with his sermons and journals, I see Wesley as the preacher of a congregation-centered and a deductive topical preacher. Wesley tends to find the topic for the sermon from the life of the congregation and the structure of his sermon is very highly analytic and logical. When he tries to draw an understanding for the essence of the topic and gives a conclusion, he always has used the Bible verses in a view of soteriology. At the part the conlusions, he usually put the actual spiritual experiences and the pastoral concerns with how to apply this sermons to the life of congregations. Thomas Long has mentioned some metaphors to talk about the theological meaning on practical preaching. In modern age, the metaphor of ‘storyteller’ has been accepted as an much effective way. However, I would assert that the people, especially the methodists, has to find the image of ‘pastor metaphor’ back or at least they have to replenish with it. This will give restoration of the pure wild nature of the methodist and will be the way to experience the inner recovery and outer revival back which Wesley has experienced.

코로나19 팬데믹은 이미 잠시만 버티면 넘어갈 수 있는 질병이 아닌, 앞으로 인류가 안고 살아가야 할 새로운 바탕과 상황이 되어버렸다. 이것은 직장, 학교 등의 일상생활 전체의 패턴을 바꾸어 놓았을 뿐 아니라, 나아가 교회운영과 설교, 전도의 구조와 방법까 지도 모두 바꾸어 놓았다. 부득이 반강제적으로 비대면 예배가 시작이 되고, 모든 설교를 유튜브를 통하여 전송해야 하는 상황이 되면서, 자신이 섬기는 교회의 회중들을 만나는 빈도는 극도로 줄어들고, 익명의 인터넷 유저(User)들을 더 많이 접하게 되었다. 결국 이 는 많은 설교자들로 하여금 탈회중적인 설교, 익명의 회원들로 부터의 인기를 가늠하게 해주는 조회수와 댓글로 평가받는 설교를 양산하였고, 그렇지 않아도 어려웠던 교회는 미래조차 보이지 않게 되고 있다. 본 연구자는 이를 타개할 방법 중의 하나로 존 웨슬리의 목회관과 설교문 작성의 원리들을 제시하려고 한다. 학자들, 목회자들 마다 웨슬리를 보는 관점에 조금씩 차이가 있지만, 본 연구자는 웨슬 리의 목회와 설교가 공적인 차원보다는 보다 개별적인 차원에 집중되어 있었고, 사회와 교단 전체 보다는 당장 자신이 만나고 있는 바로 그 성도들의 문제위에서 설교를 준비하 는 설교가라는 측면에서 웨슬리를 이해하고 연구하고 있다. 시간이 흐르면서, 작은 교회 가 큰 교회로 부흥하고, 작은 회중이 큰 회중으로 부흥하면서, 개별적인 성결은 사회적인 성결이 되어있었고, 회중 개인의 변화는 사회의 전체적인 변화를 선도하고 구성하게 되었 다. 최소한 웨슬리는 이 변화와 부흥을 선도하였고, 경험하였으며, 스스로를 웨슬리안이 라 부르기를 원하는 우리는 나라의 변화, 세계의 변화를 오늘 우리가 섬기는 작은 교회에 서 시작하고 있다. 이러한 부흥의 원천은 무엇보다 웨슬리의 설교에 있었음을 전제하고, 그 동안 수천, 수만의 학자들, 목회자들, 웨슬리안 성도들은 그의 설교를 연구해왔다. 그러나 대부분이 조직신학적인 관점에서의 연구에만 치우쳐 있었기에, 능력있는 컨텐츠들이 병 안에 담긴 채 빛을 보지 못하고 있었다. ‘자기 PR시대, 좋은 컨텐츠 PR시대’를 맞아 웨슬리의 신학과 신앙의 컨텐츠들이 웨슬리에 의해 어떠한 방법으로 설교문 안으로 전달되었는지 분석하고, 연구하고, 연습하고, 실행하여, 한국교회 강단이 회복하고, 성도들이 다시 모이며, 웨슬리가 경험한 부흥이 다시 한 번 재현되기를 바란다.
