This study analyzed the current situation of research using 61 government R&D projects related to art therapy from 2002 to 2020 provided by NTIS as data. The analysis of art therapy R&D projects was conducted in four stages: first, the annual art therapy government-contributed research status, second, yearly government-invested in art therapy research expenses, third, analysis of institutions performing art therapy R&D by department, fourth, analysis of the current status of art therapy R&D projects by research type and results were as follows. First, the national annual R&D project for art therapy began in 2005 and had been continuously growing since 2012. Second, the annual government-invested research budget continues to increase from 2005 to 2020 due to the growing trend of the art therapy national R&D projects. Third, in the analysis by department, the Ministry of Education has consistently supported research, and the Ministry of SMEs and Startups has recently been increasing support in research. Fourth, the analysis of the current status of research type shows that sectors in humanities consistently account for a large proportion of research in the classification of R&D characteristics. In terms of research status by classification of R&D characteristics according to change of government, sectors in humanities were the most common until 2012, and convergence studies emerged since 2013. Examining the current status of national R&D projects in art therapy, the government seems to be promoting art therapy through various laws and business policies. In addition, considering the development of the fourth industrial revolution technology in line with the investment direction of the country, the convergence research on art therapy is expected to increase, and the budget allocated is also expected to increase. In response, art therapy needs to discuss the direction of art therapy research, such as promoting convergence research or designating protective research. This study is meaningful as it made a new attempt to analyze the current situation through R&D open data in the field of art therapy.

본 연구는 유방암 환자들이 경험한 만다라 미술치료의 의미와 본질을 구체적으로 탐색하는 연구이다. 본 연구는 Kellogg의 만다라 일원상 이론을 근거로 Fincher가 제시한 미술치료 방법을 40세 이상의 성인 여성 유방암 환자 6인을 대상으로 2020년 5월부터 2020년 9월까지 주 1회 90분씩 총 13회기 진행하였다. 연구 방법은 유방암 환자의 내면을 더욱 깊이 이해하기 위해 현상학적 질적 접근을 시도하였으며, 인간 현상의 보편적이면서 본질적인 측면을 밝힐 수 있도록 Van Manen이 제시한 4개의 근본적 실존체인 ‘신체성, 시간 성, 공간성, 관계성’ 측면으로 분석하였다. 참여자들의 면담 내용을 녹취하였고, 반성적 사유를 통한 분석 과정을 통해 수집된 자료 속에서 주제를 분류하고 각 주제의 의미를 추적하였다. 의미 단위를 분석한 결과, 121개의 중심언어, 36개의 드러난 주제, 12개의 본질적 주제로 드러났다. 본 연구에서 유방암 환자들이 만다라 미술치료 체험과정에서 발견한 것은 ‘내 안의 신성을 찾아가기’로, 암을 겪으면서 이전의 삶과는 다른 변화된 나를 인식하는 과정을 통해 이루어졌다고 볼 수 있다. 본 연구는 항암이나 방사선 등의 의료적 처지로 인하여 심리적 위기를 겪고 있는 미술치료의 개입이 가장 필요한 진단받은 지 1년 미만인 환자들의 불안과 혼란스러운 정서를 치유하는 데 의의가 있다. 해석학적 현상학에 기초한 만다라 미술치료는 초기 유방암 환자들이 자신의 전체성을 찾아가는 여정의 길에 등대와 같은 역할을 할 것으로 기대한다.
