Ｔhis study　aims to compare and analyze the size of the face damage effect from a pragmatic point of view, focusing on the three factors affecting the face damage effect by selecting the scenario dialogue in Chinese and the corresponding Korean translation. do. To this end, Chapter 2 examines several studies and examines the relationship between the face-damaging effect of politeness theory and translation. Chapter 3 presents a method to specifically quantify the three factors that affect the face-damaging effect. In Chapter 4, the face damage effect measurement formula is applied to measure and analyze the face damage effect of the Chinese dialogue text and the corresponding Korean translation dialogue. The results of the analysis showed that whether or not the expression of honorific words was applied was not necessarily related to the large or small size of the face damage effect. The significance of this paper is that it presented a new method of translation analysis by analyzing the effect of face damage based on politeness theory, and the role of the translator could also be presented more clearly through this study.

본 논문은 중국어로 된 시나리오 대화문과 그에 상응하는 한국어 번역본 두 편을 선정하여 체면 손상 효과에 영향을 주는 세 가지 요인을 중심으로 화용론적 관점에서 이들의 체면 손상 효과의 크기를 측정하여 비교·분석하고자 한다. 이를 위해 2장에서는 여러 연구들을 살피면 서 공손 이론 중 체면 손상 효과가 번역과 어떤 관계가 있는지를 규명할 것이다. 3장에서는 체면 손상 효과에 영향을 주는 세 가지 요인을 구체적으로 계량화하는 방법을 제시한다. 4장 에서는 체면 손상 효과 측정의 공식을 적용하여 중국어 대화문과 그에 대응하는 한국어 번역 대화문의 체면 손상 효과를 측정하고 분석한다. 분석 결과를 통해 경어 표현 적용 여부는 체 면 손상 효과의 크고 작음과 필연적 관계가 없다는 결과가 나타났다. 공손 이론을 바탕으로 체면 손상 효과를 분석함으로써 번역 분석의 새로운 방법을 제시하였다는 것이 본고의 의의 이며 본 연구를 통해 번역자의 역할 또한 더욱 명확하게 제시될 수 있었다.
