A, the underground shopping center in Bupyeong-gu, Incheon, contains a lot of visual information. Introduced to provide users with convenience, its visual information ended up causing inconvenience for the users of A. Direction signs are essential which are easily recognizable by users to travel to their destinations and offer visual information clearly. This study focused on public designs for user convenience as designs experienced by users, aiming to identify what was needed to promote user convenience along with the information they needed and propose directions of improvement. Public designs of an underground shopping center were compared and analyzed in the marking of destination information, typography, color, form, layout, and installation location as part of public design experiences. As for methodology, the investigator first took into consideration the elements of public designs for user convenience based on literature study and previous studies and then conducted a survey and in-depth interview with users of an underground shopping center. The findings show that the forms of public design had the biggest impact on user convenience, being followed by colors and typography in the order. The locations of public designs posed problems. Based on these findings, the study proposed improvement measures and development plans for public designs. The present study will hopefully contribute to the improvement and development of public designs centered around user convenience.

인천 부평구에 위치한 A지하상가는 많은 시각 정보를 가지고 있다. 사용자의 편리함을 위한 시각 정보는 지하 상가를 사용하는 사용자에게 불편함을 제공하는 요소가 되었다. 사용자들이 목적지로 이동하기 위해 쉽게 인식되 고, 시각 정보를 정확히 전달하는 안내표지판은 필수이다. 본 연구는 사용자 편의를 위한 공공디자인의 사용자 경험 디자인 연구로서 사용자에게 필요한 정보와 사용자 편의 성을 위한 필요사항을 도출하고 개선방안을 제안하는데 목적이 있다. 공공디자인을 경험할 때 목적지에 대한 정 보 표기와 타이포그래피, 컬러, 형태, 레이아웃, 설치위치 등에 관한 문제를 지하상가의 공공디자인을 비교 분석했 다. 연구방법으로는 1차로 문헌 연구와 선행 연구를 통해 사용자 편의를 위한 공공디자인의 요소를 고찰했다. 2차 로 지하상가 사용자를 대상으로 설문조사 및 심층 인터뷰 를 진행했다. 연구 결과, 사용자에게 편의성을 제공하는 요인으로는 공공디자인의 형태, 컬러, 타이포그래피 순으 로 나타났으며, 공공디자인의 위치가 문제점으로 드러났 다. 이를 통해 공공디자인의 개선사항 도출과 발전 방안 을 제시할 수 있었다. 본 연구가 향후 사용자 편의 중심 의 공공디자인의 개선과 개발에 도움을 줄 것으로 기대한 다.
