Global major sports events such as the Summer and Winter Olympic Games and the World Cup Games have a high public interest, so the Broadcasting Act mandates the provision of broadcasting for them to ensure universal viewing rights. However difficulties are aggravated by the lack of financial resources due to the decrease in advertising sales, coupled with the rapid rise in broadcasting fees. Therefore, there are great concerns about the sustainability of the guarantee of viewing rights in future. In the study, the value of broadcasting of international sports events was estimated to provide a standard for reasonable negotiation and to strengthen bargaining power. Considering the public interests of broadcasting and the availability of data, the stated preference data were collected and the conjoint analysis method was adopted. As a result, it was found that the World Cup game created a value of 5,643 won per viewer, the Summer Olympics game 2,949 won, and the Winter Olympics 1,431 won. And the time lag of 6 hours dropped the value by 149 won. The results in additional viewers or subscribers. Combined with the viewership (occupancy) rate, it can be usefully used to calculate the reasonable price of the broadcasting right. 동하계 올림픽, 월드컵 등 국제 스포츠 대회는 국민들의 관심도가 집중되 기 때문에 보편적 시청권의 보장을 위한 제도적 장치가 방송법에 마련되 어 있다. 그런데 광고매출의 감소로 인한 방송사의 재원부족이 중계권료의 빠른 상승과 맞물려 어려움이 가중되고 있다. 특히 중계권의 독자 계약이 이 루어지면서 수요독점이 깨어지고 공급독점이 강화되고 있다. 그래서 시청권 보장 정책의 지속가능성에 대한 우려가 있다. 본 연구에서는 국제 스포츠 기구와의 중계권 협상에서 수요자의 협상력 을 강화하기 위해 중계권의 가치를 추정하였다. 방송의 공익적 역할과 분석 자료의 가용성을 감안하여 진술선호 자료를 수집하고, 컨조인트 분석법을 사용하였다. 월드컵 경기 중계방송은 시청자당 5,643원, 하계올림픽 경기는 2,949원, 동계올림픽은 1,431원의 가치를 창출하는 것으로 나타났다. 그리 고 6시간의 시차는 시청자당 149원 만큼 가치를 떨어뜨렸다. 이 결과는 시 청자나 가입자, 시청(점유)율 등과 결합되어 중계권의 합당한 가격을 산정하 는데 활용될 수 있을 것이다. 또한 시청권 보장 정책의 성과를 평가하는 객 관적인 근거가 될 것이다.
