Ethical issues that emphasize social fairness and increased interest in sustainable environmental practice have led to the emergence of sustainable fashion. Sustainable fashion is a direction that should be taken to solve environmental problems and make development for a next generation. Also its importance is being emphasized due to the changed consumer lifestyle. Therefore, this study aims to investigate ethical fashion brands that pursued sustainability to identify the silhouettes and fabrics of clothing. Common design features were derived by focusing on the sustainable elements defined in this study. Based on this above, three women’s wear designs were completed. As a result of this study, four sustainable design elements could be redefined. First, it is a design that does not go with the flow of senses of the times. Second, it is a design that can be used in various ways. Third, it is a design using functional materials that can be regenerated. Fourth, it is a design using pattern production to prevent abuse of fabric. Based on these sustainable design elements, a total of three women's clothes were produced. The first outfit prevented waste through geometric pattern production. The second outfit is a jacket made of semi-synthetic materials in which natural paper materials are recycled. In the third outfit, a jacket with improved practicality was produced by applying various design elements. Amid growing interest in sustainable fashion worldwide, in addition to the sustainable design elements presented in this study, we look forward to discussing follow-up design development research that can be approached more creatively and practically.

사회적 공정성을 강조한 윤리적 문제와 지속가능한 환경 실천에 대한 관심 증대가 지속가능한 패션의 출현을 불러왔으며, 이는 일시적인 트렌드가 아닌 가치관의 문제로 자리 잡고 확산하고 있다. 이에 따라, 지속가능한 디자인의 필요성은 더욱이 커져가고 있다. 지속가능한 패션은 환경문제의 해결과 차세대의 발 전을 위해 나아가야 하는 방향이며, 변화된 소비자의 라이프스타일로 인해 중요성이 더욱 강조되고 있다. 따라서 본 연구는 첫째, 지속가능성을 추구하고 제작 과정에서 사회적 공정성을 강조하는 윤리적 패션 브 랜드를 조사하고, 해당 의류들의 실루엣과 소재를 파악하였다. 둘째, 실리적으로 적용 가능한 지속가능한 디자인 요소를 정의하였다. 셋째, 지속가능한 디자인 요소를 적용한 3점의 여성복 디자인을 개발하여 새로 운 지속가능한 패션디자인을 제시하는 데 목적이 있다. 본 연구의 조사 결과 지속가능한 디자인 요소를 4 가지로 재정립할 수 있었다. 첫째, 시대적 감각의 흐름을 타지 않는 디자인이다. 둘째, 다양한 활용이 가능 한 디자인이다. 셋째, 재생 가능한 기능적 소재를 이용한 디자인이다. 넷째, 원단 남용을 방지하는 패턴 제 작을 이용한 디자인이다. 이러한 지속가능한 디자인 요소들을 바탕으로 총 3벌의 여성복을 제작하였다. 첫 번째 의상은 기하학적 패턴 제작을 통해 폐기물을 방지하였다. 두 번째 의상은 천연 종이 소재가 재활용된 반합성 소재를 이용한 재킷이다. 세 번째 의상은 다양하게 활용 가능한 디자인 요소를 적용하여 실용성을 높인 재킷을 제작하였다. 세계적으로 지속가능한 패션에 대한 관심이 높아지는 가운데, 본 연구에서 제시 한 지속가능한 디자인 요소들 외에도 보다 창의적이면서 실용적으로 접근할 수 있는 후속 디자인 개발 연구 논의를 기대한다.
