Under the background that the Chinese government put forward the planning outline for building an innovative country from 2006 to 2020 and this has expired, this paper cites and studies the data of 30 provinces, cities and autonomous regions (except Xizang) in China from 2006 to 2019, with the innovation index as the new proxy variable of innovation, establishing a panel database and using C-D function for regression analysis. It demonstrates the impact of innovation ability on regional economic development through empirical analysis. In addition to making use of the data of 30 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions for respective analysis, four regions are divided into east, middle, west and northeast to compare regional differences. According to the analysis results, innovation ability plays a positive role in promoting China's economic development. Besides, there existing significant regional differences in the impact of innovation capability on economic development. The innovation ability in the central and western regions reveals a more significant and deeper influence on economic development than the average level in the eastern, northeastern regions and the whole country.

혁신역량은 지역경제발전에 있어서 중요한 역할을 하고 있다. 중국은 2006년부터 2020년까지 국가혁신역량과 지역혁신역량을 높이기 위해 많은 노력을 하고 있다. 본 연구는 2006년부터 2019년 중국의 30개 지역(서장자치구 제외)의 자료를 이용하여 혁신 역량이 지역경제발전에 미치는 영향을 실증분석하고 있다. 지역별 혁신역량은 혁신지 수(innovation index)를 통해 변수화 하고 있다. 중국의 30개 지역의 자료를 통해 지역별 혁신역량의 차이가 지역경제발전의 차이에 미치는 영향을 실증분석 함과 동시에 중국 의 지역을 다시 4개의 지역으로 구분하여 혁신역량과 지역경제발전의 관계를 규명하고 있다. 왜냐하면 4개의 지역구분은 지역경제발전 수준의 차이를 더욱 명확하게 나타낼 수 있기 때문이다. 실증분석 결과에 의하면 혁신역량은 중국의 지역경제발전에 대해 정(+)의 통계적인 유의성을 가지고 있는 것으로 나타나고 있다. 즉 혁신역량의 지역별 차이가 지역경제발전 수준에 통계적인 유의성을 가진다. 4대 지역구분의 실증분석 결 과에 의하면 중부지역과 서부지역이 동부지역과 동북지역보다도 통계적 유의성이 더 욱 강하게 나타나고 있다. 이는 향후 중부지역과 서부지역의 혁신역량의 역할이 더욱 증대할 것으로도 해석할 수 있다.
