The government has announced the country's Crisis Alert Level to 2 on January 27, 2020 and has increased it to ‘serious’ on February 23, 2020 against COVID-19. The number of confirmed cases has increased to 10,000, which has a significant impact on our society as a whole. In particular, forest education and activities at the forest education institutions and forest are in a very chaotic situation due to COVID-19 aftereffect that they experienced for the first time. This study aims at analyzing the future direction of forest activities in this newly experienced environment caused by COVID-19. The first objective of this study is to analyze the current status of forest activities and various problems caused by COVID-19, and the second objective is to explore forest activities, field experience guidance, and forest welfare policies. To achieve the objectives, the current status and conditions of forest activities were analyzed by utilizing the relevant reports and the website of “Our World in Data.” The research included analysis of the problems of outdoor learning experience and understanding and responding to difficult situations faced by forest education institutions, and suggesting forest welfare policies and suggestions to solve these problems. In conclusion, it was possible to implement non-face-to-face system to the forest activities because the formal education had established a digital system. Forest activities after COVID-19 should be changed to digital activities, whereby using digital devices and including both face-to-face and non-faceto- face activities. Forest activities need to be expanded and redefined as important functions of forest education, and the government also needs to set some budget and policy support to implement forest welfare policies through forest and forest education.

정부는 2020년 1월 27일 코로나19 ‘경계’ 단계 발표 이후 2월 23일 ‘심각’ 단계로 격상하였으며, 누적 확진자가 1만여 명까지 증가하면서 코로나19 사태는 우리사회에 전반에 걸쳐 많은 영향을 주고 있다. 특히 산림교육기관이나 산림 현장에서의 산림교육 및 숲체험활동은 처음 겪는 코로나 여파로 매우 혼란한 상황에 처해있다. 이 연구는 이처럼 코로나19로 인해 새롭게 경험하는 환경에서 숲체험활동에 대한 미래의 방향성을 분석하기 위함이다. 이 연구의 목적은 첫째, 코로나19로 인한 숲체험활동 현황과 다양한 문제점들을 분석 하고, 둘째, 코로나19 시대와 코로나19 이후 숲체험 활동과 현장체험지도, 산림복지정 책 방향을 모색하는 것이다. 이를 위하여 우리나라의 관련 보고서들과 데이터의 세계 (Our World in Data) 홈페이지를 활용하여 숲체험 현황과 실태를 분석하였다. 연구의 내용은 야외체험학습의 문제들에 대한 분석과 산림교육기관이 처한 어려운 상황에 대한 이해 및 대응 방안에 대한 연구와 이러한 문제들을 해결하기 위한 산림복지정책 제언과 시사점을 도출하였다. 결론적으로, 비대면 산림교육 및 산림체험활동에서도 신속하게 대응할 수 있었던 것 은 디지털 시스템이 체계적으로 구축되어 실시된 정규 교육이 근간이 되어 산림교육 및 숲 체험활동에 대한 이해화 관련 프로그램에 적용되었기 때문이다. 코로나19 이후 숲체험활동은 디지털 활동으로 전환되어야 하며, 이때 디지털 산림 및 숲체험 활동은 디지털 기기를 바탕으로 한 대면활동과 비대면 활동을 모두 포함하는 것이다. 산림 및 숲체험활동과 지도는 산림교육의 중요한 기능으로서의 역할 확장과 재개념화가 있어야 할 것이며, 정부 역시 산림 및 숲체험활동과 산림교육을 통한 산림복지정책 시행을 위한 예산 지원 및 정책적인 지원이 있어야 할 것이다.
