This paper examines John Fairman Preston’s missionary activities, focusing on Sunchon Mission Station. Research on Preston’s Suncheon missionary activities has not been done much, because the research on the Suncheon Mission was not enough, and the data on Preston were not properly organized. There are three characteristics of Preston's missionary activities. First, his faith and missionary activities were tolerant because he graduated from Princeton Graduate School, not the Southern Presbyterian Church Seminary in the United States. Second, Preston’s experience with the PCUS Executive Committee of Foreign Missions before being dispatched to Korea as a missionary helped him to continue to adhere to the Nebius Mission plan based on mutual trust and cooperation in the Korean mission activities. Third, Preston showed a comprehensive ability to manage the entire Suncheon Mission unlike common missionaries who focus on specific fields. In the process of designing, constructing, and operating the Suncheon Mission, he managed well in various fields such as financing and organizational operation, building design, gospel mission, educational mission, and medical mission.
