Purpose : The purpose of the study is to help the reconstruction of the shipping industry by comparing and analyzing the factors that changed the timing of COVID-19 in Korea to before and after, and drawing policy implications for the outlook of the Korean shipping industry and what the Korean government. Research design, data, methodology : The study is to help the reconstruction of the shipping industry by comparing and analyzing the factors that changed the timing of COVID-19 in Korea to before and after. Results and Conclusions : With the spread of COVID-19, the biggest global disaster since World War II, hit by social culture and the economy, large factories in China shut down, reducing actual sales and container collection. Ironically, however, the shipping industry's performance in the first half of 2020 has turned to a surplus due to reduced operating costs, raising expectations that the reconstruction of the Korean shipping industry may be starting again.

제2차 세계대전 이후 가장 큰 전세계적인 재난이라고 할 수 있는 COVID-19의 확산으로 인해 사회문화, 경제 등에 타격을 입는 상황에서 중국의 대규모 공장들이 셧다운이 되면서 실질적 인 매출과 컨테이너 적취량이 줄었다. 그러나 아이러니하게도 운항비 절감 등의 이유로 2020 년 상반기 해운업계의 실적은 흑자로 돌아서면서 다시 한국의 해운산업의 재건이 시작되고 있는 것이 아닌지에 대한 기대가 생기고 있다. COVID-19로 인해 최근 해운산업은 적자에서 흑자 전환으로 상승세를 타고 우리나라의 해운 업이 쇠퇴하기 이전 상태로 회복하고 있다. 포스트 COVID-19 시대에도 지속적으로 그 상승세 를 유지하고 다양한 위기상황을 극복하기 위한 적절한 대응방안들을 고민해야 할 시점이다. 이에 본 연구에서는 우리나라의 해운산업이 COVID–19 발생 시점을 전·후로 변경된 상황들이 어떤 요인으로 흑자 전환을 꾀할 수 있었는지에 대해서 비교·분석을 통해 알아보고, 한국의 해운산업의 전망과 한국 정부가 노력해야 하는 것이 무엇인지에 대한 정책적 시사점을 도출함 으로써 해운산업의 재건에 일조하고자 함이 연구목적이다.
