The ‘Sori-eoul Youth Orchestra’, which is operated based in Guro-gu, Seoul, is the first middle and high school orchestra in South Korea to work with multicultural keyword. And it is a medium for encouraging Chinese students to adapt comfortably to the orchestra by organizing and introducing Chinese instruments within the group. Therefore, this study assumed that activities in this orchestra would have a significant impact on changes in notions of multiculturalism, and tried to prove the cultural identity and educational effect of the members through interviews and surveys. As a result, the initial hypothesis of the discussion was not fully demonstrated due to the sampling of the study and the regional characteristics of Daerim-dong, but the following results were obtained: First, the members naturally and positively recognized the inclusion of Chinese instruments in the organization. Second, multicultural students often hide their identity as they become more proficient in Korean, and only about 10% of them revealed their identity to the surface after middle school. Third, due to the local characteristics of the surveyors, they often had a positive perception of multiculturalism from the beginning, but it was clear that orchestra activities served as a medium for viewing students with different nationalities more positively. Based on the three derived matters, I intend to lay the foundation for conducting next long-term investigations about members' mutual notions and changes in cultural identity. In multicultural education, music is expected to be a medium for nonverbal activities centered on sound, and it will be able to take charge of effective education from a neutral perspective. And in particular, the method of organizing orchestra chosen by the Sori-eoul Youth Orchestra combines various music cultures, which is likely to serve as a good example to contribute to multicultural education in South Korea.

서울특별시 구로구를 거점으로 운영되고 있는 ‘소리어울청소년관현악단’은 다문화 키워드를 전면에 내세워 활동하는 국내 최초의 중고등학교 오케스트라로, 단체 내에 중국악기를 편성 도입 하여 중국국적 학생들이 단체에 편안히 적응하도록 유도하는 매개가 된다. 따라서 본 연구는 이 단체에서의 활동이 다문화에 대한 관념 변화에 유의미한 영향이 있으리라 가정하고, 면담 및 설문 조사를 통해 단원들이 갖는 문화정체성과 교육효과를 고증해보고자 하였다. 그 결과 연구의 표집 및 대림동의 지역 특성상 논의의 최초 가설을 온전히 증명하지는 못하였으나 다음과 같은 성과를 도출하였다. 첫째, 단원들은 단체의 편성에 중국악기를 포함시킨 것을 자연스럽고 긍정적으로 인식하였다. 둘째, 다문화학생들은 한국말을 점차 능숙하게 구사하게 되면서 정체성을 숨기는 경우가 많으며, 중학교 이후에는 약 10%만이 자신의 정체성을 표면적으로 드러내는 것으로 보인다. 셋째, 설문조사자들의 거주지역적 특성 상 다문화에 대해 본래부터 긍정적 인식을 가진 경우가 많았으나 관현 악단 활동이 다른 국적 학생을 더욱 긍정적으로 바라보는 매개가 되었음은 확실하였다. 도출된 세 가지 사항들을 기반으로 향후 단원들의 상호관념과 문화정체성 변화에 대한 장기적인 조사 수행의 발판을 마련하고자 한다. 다문화교육에서 음악은 소리를 중심으로 하는 비언어적 활동이 매개체가 되어 중립적인 입장 에서 효과적인 교육을 담당할 수 있을 것으로 보이는데, 특히 소리어울청소년관현악단이 택한 관현악의 편성 방법은 여러 음악문화를 융합하게 하므로 한국의 다문화교육에 기여할 좋은 예시 가 될 가능성이 높다.
