COVID-19 pandemic has brought about a major change in the history of civilization and is expected to bring about global changes. In the past, there were difficulties in evangelism and missions due to cultural differences, but in the era of the 4th industrial revolution and the new normal era accelerated by COVID-19, the challenges to the churches and missions are relatively ineffective and inefficient with existing practices and responses. In the face of the COVID-19 situation, the Korean church has fallen into chaos in theological and pastoral practices. The confusion of the church and the failure to respond to the changed and changing society can be attributed to the fact that the church has been lacking in the missionary theological conviction and the pursuit of the essence of the church. The church and theology will have to seek a new level of response to this challenge. In particular, the crises and challenges of missions in intercultural context will occur more seriously than in the domestic field. I would like to examine the mission-theological reflection on the Covid-19 pandemic and suggest the direction of missions in the covid era and afterward. This study will contribute to the mission board, local churches, and the missionaries in the mission field.

코로나19는 문명사적 대전환을 가져왔고, 전 지구적인 변화를 초래할 것으로 보인다. 과거에도 문화 차이로 인한 전도와 선교의 어려움이 있었 지만, 코로나19로 앞당겨진 4차 산업혁명 시대, 뉴노멀 시대의 교회와 선 교에 대한 도전은 기존의 관행과 대응으로는 효율성과 효과성이 떨어질 수 밖에 없을 것이다. 한국교회는 코로나19 상황에 직면하여 신학적, 목회 실천적 혼란에 빠 졌다. 교회의 혼란과 대사회적 대응의 실패는 선교적 차원의 신학적 확신 과 교회의 본질에 대한 추구가 부실했던 그동안의 교회 실태에 기인한다고 볼 수 있다. 교회와 신학은 이러한 도전에 새로운 차원의 응전을 모색해야 할 것이다. 특히 타 문화권 선교의 위기와 도전은 다른 어떤 분야보다 더 심각하게 일어날 것이고, 선교지 선교사와 사역 및 국내 교회의 선교 사역 에 거대한 변화를 가져올 것으로 예측된다. 필자는 이러한 문명사적 대전환기며 선교 패러다임의 변화를 일으키는 코로나19 감염병에 관한 선교 신학적 성찰을 살펴보고, 코로나 시대 및 그 이후 지역교회의 선교 방향을 제시하고자 한다.
