2021년 7월 1일 본격적인 자치경찰제 시행에 따라서 17개 시-도에서는 각 시-도 경 찰청과 긴밀한 협의 하에 관련 조례 제정 및 자치경찰위원회 및 사무국 구성 등을 진행 하고 있다. 조례 내용 중, 자치경찰의 사무범위와 자치경찰사무 담당 공무원 등에 대한 지원이 중요한 사항이라고 할 수 있다. 부산은 ‘자치경찰사무의 구체적인 사항과 범위를 개정 할 경우, 미리 부산경찰청장의 의견을 들어야 한다’(제2조)로, ‘자치경찰사무를 수행하 는 공무원에게 예산의 범위에서 복지, 처우 등의 지원을 할 수 있다’(제11조)로 명시하 고 있다. 부산형 자치경찰제의 시행착오 최소화 및 조기 정착을 위해서는 ① 부산광역시 소 속 공무원 등에만 지원할 수 있는 ‘후생 복지 관련 조례’를 개정해야 하며 ② 업무연계 문제사례를 지속 발굴-보완하고 ③ 부산 치안여건에 특화된 자치경찰 시책을 개발해야 하며 ④ 경찰과 지자체에 산재되어 있는 범죄예방 자원을 통합 관리하고 ⑤ 자치경찰 에 대한 시민의 지속적인 관심과 참여를 유도해야 한다. 다만, 자치경찰제가 본격적으로 실시된 후 일정 기간이 경과하면 자치경찰제에 대한 부산 시민들의 체감안전도를 측정하고, 보완할 내용은 없는지 점 검하는 등 방향성을 재정립할 필요가 있다.
