According to Self-determination, it is argued that individuals can experience simultaneously distinct types of motivation. This study utilized a person-centered approach to identify university students’(N=941) motivational profiles based on self-determination theory. More specifically, this study identified both qualitatively and quantitatively four different types of students’motivational profiles by a latent profile analysis(LPA), and these four students’ motivational profiles were then contrasted with major satisfaction, turnover intentions, and organizational citizenship behavior(OCBs). Results showed that motivation profiles with respect to the high level of intrinsic motivation were associated with students’ high level of major satisfaction, OCBs toward university and schoolmates. On the other hand, motivational profiles pertaining to high level of amotivation type were associated with a high level of student’s turnover intentions. In addition, our findings showed that there is a context effects within motivational profiles. This study discusses some implication for motivational theory, practices and future research on students’ motivational profiles.

자기결정성이론에 따르면 사람은 동기유형에 대해 다차원적 경험을 할 수 있다. 본 연구 는 자기결정성이론을 기반으로 대학생(N=941)의 동기부여 프로파일 유형을 탐색하였고, 사람중 심 접근법을 적용하여 Mplus 7.31을 활용해 잠재프로파일분석(LPA)을 실행하였다. 이를 통해 4 개(무동기화, 중간수준 무동기화, 높은 내재적 동기화, 안정화)의 대학생 동기부여 프로파일이 도출되었고, 프로파일 유형별 결과변인(전공만족도, 편입의도, 학위 및 대학을 향한 조직시민행 동)들과의 통계적 관계를 검증하였다. 분석 결과, 높은 내재적 동기수준이 높은 수준으로 구성 된 프로파일 그룹들이 대체적으로 대학생들의 높은 전공만족도 및 조직시민행동 그리고 낮은 편입의도성향을 보이는 것으로 조사되었다. 반면, 동기부여 되지 않고 내재적으로 동기부여 되 지 않은 프로파일 그룹에 속한 대학생들의 대학편입 의도가 높은 것으로 조사되었다. 본 연구 는 프로파일의 양적 및 질적 유형의 형태에 따른 맥락적 효과를 보여주며, 사람중심 접근법에 기초하여 학생들의 동기부여 연구의 방법론적 접근법의 새로운 패러다임을 제공하였다. 마지막 으로 본 연구는 연구결과에 대한 논의, 연구의 한계점 및 후속 연구방향을 제시하였다.
