This study analyzes the achievement standards related to global citizenship education in the 2015 revised middle school social studies curriculum to examine how global citizenship education, which is emerging as an international educational agenda, is being implemented. And it is aiming at presenting basic data for textbook compilation. The conclusions drawn upon the analysis results of this study are as follows. Compared to the 2009 revision, the proportion of GCED achievement standards in the 2015 revised middle school social studies curriculum increased, but the proportion of topics for understanding various cultures and perspectives was somewhat higher, so it is necessary to construct a balanced achievement standard between topics. Looking at each area, in the geographic area, the GCED achievement standard increased in the 2015 revision compared to the 2009 revision, but the general social domain decreased. The concentration of the achievement standard of global citizenship education in the geographic area has an effect on the composition of the textbook unit, and this the phenomenon of the bias toward geography in the middle of the textbook appeared.

본 연구는 2015 개정 중학교 사회과 교육과정에 나타난 세계시민교육 관련 성취기준 을 분석하여 국제적인 교육의제로 부상하고 있는 세계시민교육이 어떻게 구현되고 있는지 살펴보고, 향후 사회과 교육과정의 기초 자료를 제시하는 데 목적이 있다. 본 연구의 분석 결과는 다음과 같다. 2009 개정에 비해 2015 개정 중학교 사회과 교육과정에서 세계시민교 육 성취기준 비중이 높아졌지만, 다양한 문화와 관점 이해 주제의 비중이 다소 높아 주제 간 균형있는 성취기준 구성이 필요하다. 영역별로 살펴보면 지리 영역은 2009 개정 교육과 정 대비 2015 개정 교육과정에서 세계시민교육 성취기준이 증가하였으나, 일반사회 영역은 오히려 감소하였다. 이러한 지리 영역의 세계시민교육 성취기준 편중은 교과서 단원 구성에 영향을 미치게 되어 교과서 중단원에서도 지리 영역으로의 편중 현상이 나타났다.
