The purpose of this study is to investigate and analyze the establishment and promotion of the Korea Naval Academy(KNA) Rowing Team, and internal and external activities to reveal its meaning. The following conclusions were obtained: First, the KNA's rowing team was founded on August 3, 1970 by Admiral Kim Kyu-seop, the 17th principal. Second, the purpose of its foundation was to determine the possibility of development and to promote KNA around the world, including the overthrow of Japan as well as the championship of domestic competitions. Third, his successor, Admiral Shin Sang-dae, was promoted to the strongest team in Korea, and served as the first president of the GyeongnamRowingAssociation, contributed to the development of Korean rowing. Fourth, the KNA's rowing team ranked first in all events at the 53rd National Sports Festival, and was selected as the best team of the KOC in 1972. The KNA's rowing team also honored the school by participating in the fifth Korea-Japan exchange match in 1973 and achieving a new competition record. Fifth, the honorable challenge of the KNA's rowing team was made with the dedication and efforts of all the athletes of the KNA's rowing team, including the 26th Jeong Jeong-moo, as well as the helpers of the second leader, Captain Lee Won-chul.

이 연구의 목적은 해사 조정부의 창단과 추진과정 그리고, 대내·외 활동을 조사·분석하여 그 의미를 밝히는 데 있다. 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다. 첫째, 해사 조정부는 1970년 8월 3일, 17대 교장 김규섭 제독이 주도적으로 추진하여 창단되었다. 둘째, 창단목적은 해사와 부합된 스포츠였고, 발전 가능성을 판단, 국내대회 석권은 물론, 일본타도 등 전 세계에 해사를 알리기 위해서이다. 셋째, 후임 18대 교장 신상대 제독은 물심양면으로 지원하여, 국내 최강팀으로 육성시 켰고, 경남조정협회 초대회장을 역임하는 등 한국 조정 발전에 이바지하였다. 넷째, 1970년 51회 체전을 시작으로 53회 (1972) 체전 전 종목 석권, 1972년도 대한체육회 우수팀 선정, 1973년 5회 한·일 교환전 대학부 한국대표로, 대회 신기록을 달성하는 등 해사 조정부의 명예를 드높였다. 다섯째, 26기 정제무 등 해사 조정부의 모든 선수뿐만 아니라, 2대 지도관 이원철 대위 등 조력자들의 헌신과 노력으로 해사 조정부의 명예로운 도전이 이루어졌다.
