Dunhuang is located in northwestern Gansu Province, Western China. Dunhuang commands a strategic position at the crossroads of the ancient Southern Silk Route with a history of more than 2,000 years. Has left many useful cultural and artistic values in the long round history, and has high research values. art make-up works were produ ced using Chinese Don Dunhuang Cave murals. The mur als of Dunhuang Cave underwent the creation, developme nt, prosperity, decline, and suspension. In the long history from the Sixteenth Kingdom to the Yuan Dynasty, the m urals of Dunhuang Cave differ greatly from each era. In this study, 10 representative murals of the two periods w ere selected from the early North-South Dynasty and the mid-Tang Dynasty. In addition, the characteristics and s ymbolic motifs of murals were characterized by plant pat terns, animal patterns, human patterns, and natural patter ns, 10 creative art make-up works were produced totally. In the works of the Dunhuang Cave mural, from which the elements, such as color patterns and symbolic motifs were combined with art makeup to present various and creative designs. Through this study, we hope to find out the cultural value and artistic meaning of the Dunhuang Cave mural. Combining Dunhuang Mogao Grottoes with beautiful design, to develop modern and creative makeup design elements, an active study is also needed.

돈황은 중국 간쑤성(甘肅省) 허시회랑(河西走廊)의 서쪽 끝에 위치하며 고대 실크로드의 중요한 위치로 2000여년의 역사를 갖고 있다. 중국 돈황막고굴은 역사의 기나긴 흐름 속 에서는 유용한 문화 예술적 가치를 남겼으며, 높은 연구 가치 를 가지고 있다. 돈황막고굴 벽화는 창건, 발전, 흥성, 쇠퇴, 중지를 겪었다. 십육국 시대부터 원나라 시대까지 오랜 역사 속에서 돈황막고굴 벽화는 시대마다 특색이 크게 다르며, 본 연구에서는 역사적 시대를 초기 남북조 시대와 중기의 당나 라 시대를 선정하여 두 시대의 대표적인 벽화 그림 10점을 선 정하였다. 또한 그 벽화 그림의 시대적 특성과 상징 모티브를 식물문양, 동물문양, 인물문양, 자연현상문양으로 나우어 특 징을 분석하고 그 특징을 살려 식물문양 모티브의 메이크업 작품 4개, 동물문양 모티브 메이크업 작품 3개, 인물문양 모 티브의 메이크업 작품 2개, 자연현상 모티브의 메이크업 작품 1개 총 10개의 창의적인 아트메이크업 디자인 작품을 제작하 였다. 작품제작과정을 통해 컬러 문양과 상징 모티브 등을 아 트메이크업에 융합하여 돈황막고굴 벽화의 문화적 가치와 예 술적 의미를 알아보았다. 앞으로 뷰티디자인과 융합된 돈황 막고굴 벽화에 대한 연구가 지속되어 창의적인 메이크업 디 자인 개발이 적극적으로 수행되기를 기대한다.
