Oral Health Recognition and Practice according to Parents’ Toothbrushing and Snack Guidance

This study would assess oral health recognition and practice according to parents’ toothbrushing guidance and snack guidance with 52 fourth graders in an elementary school located in B City and provide the baseline data for continuous oral health education for the promotion of school age children’s oral health. Using SPSS statistics, a t-test was conducted on oral health recognition according to parents’ toothbrushing guidance and snack intake guidance, and a cross tabulation test (χ2-test) was conducted on oral health practice. As a result of the study, it was found that the level of school age children’s oral health recognition was high as there were parents’ toothbrushing guidance and snack guidance, and there was a positive difference also in oral health practice. It is judged that when oral health education is carried out in the future, it would be necessary to carry out training on practice method of oral health behaviors along with providing accurate knowledge about oral health for parents as well as school age children.

본 연구는 B시에 소재한 52개 초등학교 4학년 전체를 대상으로 부모의 칫솔질과 간식지도 여부에 따른 구강보건인식과 실천을 파악하여 학령기 아동의 구강건강증진을 위한 구강보건교육이 지속해서 이루어지기 위한 기초자료를 제공하고자 한다. 교육 전 학생과 부모를 대상으로 연구방법 및 목적에 관해 충분한 설명을 한 후 동 의를 구하여 설문조사를 시행하였다. SPSS statisctics를 이용하여 부모의 칫솔질과 간식섭취 지도여부에 따른 구 강보건인식은 t-test를, 구강보건실천에 관한 내용은 교차분석(χ2-test)을 시행하였다. 연구결과 부모의 칫솔질과 간식지도 여부에 따라 학령기 아동의 구강보건인식수준이 높았고, 구강보건실천에서도 긍정적인 차이가 있음을 확 인하였다. 향후 구강보건교육을 시행할 경우 학령기 아동 뿐만 아니라 부모에게도 구강보건에 대한 정확한 지식제 공과 더불어 구강보건행동 실천방법에 대한 교육을 함께 시행해야 할 것으로 사료된다.
