This study seeks to explore the effects of social capital, social entrepreneurship, and interaction between social capital and social entrepreneurship on regional equity of income distribution in the knowledge economy in South Korea. By using various measures of distributional equity such as Gini index, relative income index, 10% income decile ratio, and GRDP per capita gap in terms of income inequality, this study explores the roles of social capital and social entrepreneurship in promoting distributional equity and estimates the impacts of social capital, social entrepreneurship, and interaction between social capital and social entrepreneurship on regional equity of income distribution. Results from panel regression (fixed-effect and random-effect) models indicate that multidimensional social capital has a positive relationship with regional equity of income distribution measured by Gini index. Empirical results show that social entrepreneurship is contributable to promote regional equity of income distribution measured by relative income index and GRDP per capita gap. When various interaction terms between core constructs of social capital (such as trust (generalized trust and institutional trust), social network (passive membership and active membership), and civic norms) and social entrepreneurship are included in empirical models, this study shows that the impacts of the interaction terms on regional equity of income distribution depend on measures of distributional equity such as Gini index, relative income index, 10% income decile ratio, and GRDP per capita gap. The results of this study suggest a new direction for policy that focuses on instruments to promote regional equity of income distribution. Thus, governments of each region need to make efforts to promote social capital and social entrepreneurship because they can be contributable to promote regional equity of income distribution in the knowledge economy. In addition, it is recommended that various dimensions of regional inequality as well as regional income inequality needs to be considered in examining the relationships among social capital, social entrepreneurship, and distributional equity in the knowledge economy. Finally, the positive role of social capital in distributional equity needs to be explored in detail in the future studies.

이 연구에서는 지식정보사회에서 사회자본과 사회적 기업가정신 그리고 양자 간의 상 호작용이 각각 지역 수준의 배분적 형평성에 미치는 영향을 소득불평등 측면에서 배분적 형평성 수준을 나타내는 다양한 측정지표들을 활용하여 실증적으로 분석하고, 각 측정지 표에 따라 사회자본과 사회적 기업가정신 그리고 양자 간의 상호작용이 각각 지역 수준 의 배분적 형평성에 미치는 영향이 어떻게 달라지는지를 탐색하고 심층적으로 분석하였 다. 주요 분석결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 다차원적인 속성을 종합적으로 고려한 사회자본 변수는 지니계수로 측정된 소득불평등 정도를 완화하는데 긍정적으로 기여하는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 사회적 기업가정신 발휘 수준은 대체로 지역의 상대소득지수나 지역별 1인당 GRDP 격차로 측정된 소득불평등 수준 완화에 긍정적인 기여를 하는 것으 로 나타났다. 셋째, 사회자본과 사회적 기업가정신 발휘 수준 간의 상호작용을 고려하였 을 경우에 사회적 기업가정신 발휘 수준은 대체로 지역의 지니계수나 소득 10분위배율로 측정된 소득불평등 수준 완화에 긍정적인 기여를 하는 것으로 나타났다. 넷째, 사회자본 의 핵심적인 하위 구성요소들을 보다 세분화하여 일반적 신뢰, 제도적 신뢰, 소극적 사회 네트워크 활동, 적극적 사회 네트워크 활동, 사회규범(시민의식) 변수들을 회귀분석에 활 용하였을 경우 이들 변수들과 사회적 기업가정신 발휘 수준 변수와의 상호작용 변수들이 지니계수, 상대소득지수, 소득 10분위배율, 지역별 1인당 GRDP 격차로 측정된 지역의 배 분적 형평성 수준에 미치는 영향은 배분적 형평성 측정지표에 따라 다르게 나타났다. 본 연구의 이와 같은 분석 결과들이 의미하는 바는 사회자본과 사회적 기업가정신 발휘 수 준 그리고 양자 간의 상호작용 관계가 배분적 형평성에 미치는 영향을 분석하기 위해서 는 사회자본 개념을 구성하는 핵심적인 하위구성요소와 다양한 배분적 형평성 측정지표 들을 고려할 필요성이 있다는 것이다. 아울러 본 연구에서 초점을 둔 소득불평등 측면뿐만 아니라 향후 배분적 형평성의 다양한 측면들을 고려하여 사회자본과 사회적 기업가정신 발휘 수준과의 연계성을 보다 구체적으로 검토할 필요성이 있다. 그리고 최근 사회적경제 영역의 확대 속에서 지속가능한 경제발전과 그에 따른 경제적 성과의 형평성 있는 배분 을 위해 사회자본 개념의 긍정적 기능과 역할을 탐색할 필요성이 있다는 것을 본 연구의 분석결과는 시사하고 있다.
