This paper attempts to propose a systematic management method of non-designated movable cultural properties based on the case of temporary repair of Huangchao Wenxian Tongkao held by the Central Library of Seoul National University. In <2020 Bookcase Manufacture Project for Seoul National University Central Library Old Books>, 116 old books from the archives of the Seoul National University Central Library were repaired. Among them, 24 volumes belonged to the series of Huangchao Wenxian Tongkao. Those books are a non-designated movable cultural property in a massive quantity and imported from foreign countries, especially from Qing dynasty China. Huangchao Wenxian Tongkao was published in various editions from the end of the 19th century to the early 20th century in China. The subject of this conservation study was a series of books published at the end of the 19th century and passed on to Korea at the beginning of the 20th century. In addition, the storage has changed several times through the Japanese colonial era and contemporary Korea. This historical fact shows that these old books have been stored in an environment that is highly likely to be damaged until they became the collection of the library. Damages found through visual investigation confirmed this point. This study was carried out through a simplified method compared to the general method of paper conservation. The objects of temporary repair were selected by particular criteria. The temporary repair process was focused on repairing the book cover and book bindings.

본 논문은 서울대학교 중앙도서관 소장  『황조문헌통고(皇朝文獻通考)』의 응급 수리 사례를 토대로 비지정 동산문화재의 체계적인 관리 방식을 제시하고자 하였다. <2020 서울대학교 중앙도서관 고서 포갑 제작 사업>에서는 서울대학교 중앙도서관 고문헌 자료실 소장 고문헌 116권이 수리되었다. 그중  『황조문헌통고』는 24권이 해 당되었다. 『황조문헌통고』는 대량의 서적으로 이루어진 외국 국적의 비지정 동산 문화재이다.  『황조문헌통고』는 19세기 말부터 20세기 초에 다양한 판본으로 출판 되었으며, 이번 보존처리의 대상이 된  『황조문헌통고』는 19세기 말에 중국에서 출 간되었으며 조선으로 전해졌다. 이 책은 근대기 서적이 수집되었던 양상과 함께 일 제강점기 도서관이 형성된 과정을 보여주는 서적으로서 역사적인 가치를 지니고 있 다. 그러나 현재까지 이 서적의 소장처가 여러 차례 바뀌었으며 서울대학교 중앙도 서관의 장서가 되기 이전까지 훼손될 가능성이 높은 환경에서 보관되어왔다. 이점은 상태 조사를 통한 손상 양상의 파악을 통해서도 확인되었다. 본 연구에서 진행된 고문헌의 응급 수리는 서적의 해체로 시작하여 재장정으로 마무리되는 일반적인 보존처리 방식에 비하여 상당히 간소화된 방식으로 진행되었다. 응급 수리 대상의 선정은 자체적인 기준을 설정하여 진행되었다. 응급 수리 과정에서는 표지와 내지를 재장정하는 작업, 손상된 표지에 보수용 닥지를 덧대어 보 강하는 작업, 이전의 보존처리에서 임시로 제작된 이중 표지를 제거하고 새로운 표 지로 대체하는 작업 등이 이루어졌다. 또한 표지로부터 분리될 가능성이 큰 청구 기 호 라벨을 다시 부착하는 작업을 진행하였다.
