is a novel of the Joseon Dynasty that deals with the life of Choi Chi-won in a fictional way. The author of produced uncanny spaces, characters, and narratives, making the story of Choi Chi-won, familiar with the literature record, unfamiliar. The first is that ‘Choi Chi-won is the child of a golden pig’. The second is that he was regarded as an undutiful son who was praised as the ancestor of Korean Confucianism. This researcher discussed this uncanny phenomenon of with the help of previous studies and copies of different editions. Choi Chi-won has undergone a clear narrative that he is not the child of a golden pig. First, this researcher revealed that the golden pig is a ‘monster’. The golden pig was an object to be eliminated as a being that breaks the order of the community where Choi Chi-won stays. Choi Chi-won was abandoned by his father because of the incident in which the golden pig kidnapped women. This amplified the tension of the narrative, further making the narrative of Choi Chi-won’s hardship and his extraordinary character more prominent. Therefore, this researcher viewed that the author of embodied Choi Chi-won not as the child of a golden pig, but as an extraordinary person according to the principle of heaven. It was examined that the disrespectful attitude of Choi Chi-won toward the father was the author's literary device that functions to expand the father's self. This was a necessary narrative to say that ‘Choi Chi-won is not the child of a golden pig’. Therefore, this researcher found out that is a novel that clearly shows that ‘Choi Chi-won is not the child of a golden pig’ and it is not ‘a narrative formation of being undutiful to the father’.

<최고운전>은 최치원의 일생을 허구적으로 다룬 조선시대 소설이다. <최고운전> 의 작가는 언캐니한 공간, 인물, 서사를 생산하여 문헌기록으로 익숙한 최치원의 이야 기를 낯설게 만들었다. 첫째는 ‘최치원은 금돼지의 자식이다’라는 점이다. 둘째는 우리 나라 유학의 종조(宗祖)로 칭송받는 그를 불효자로 비치게 했다는 점이다. 본 연구자는 <최고운전>의 이러한 언캐니 현상을 선행연구와 이본들의 도움을 얻 어 논의하였다. 이로써 최치원은 ‘금돼지의 자식이 아니다’라는 명백한 서사의 확증을 거쳤다. 먼저 본 연구자는 금돼지가 ‘괴수’임을 드러내었다. 금돼지는 최치원이 머무는 공동체의 질서를 깨뜨리는 존재로서 제거되어야 할 대상이었다. 최치원은 ‘금돼지가 부녀자들을 납치하는 사건’으로 말미암아 아버지로부터 버림을 받게 되었다. 이것은 서사의 긴장을 증폭시켜 최치원의 고난 서사와 그의 비범성을 더 돋보이게 하였다. 따라서 본 연구자는 <최고운전>의 작가가 최치원을 금돼지의 자식 이라고 말한 것이 아니라 하늘의 이치에 따라 탁월함을 갖춘 인물로 형상화하였다고 바라보았다. 최치원의 아버지에 대한 불손한 태도는 아버지의 자아가 확장되도록 기능하는 작가 의 문학적 장치였음을 살폈다. 이것 또한 ‘최치원은 금돼지의 자식이 아니다’라는 것에 필요한 서사였다. 따라서 본 연구자는 <최고운전>이 ‘최치원은 금돼지의 자식이 아니 다’라는 것을 명확하게 보여준 소설이라는 것과 ‘아버지에게 불효하는 서사적 형상화’가 아님을 알 수 있었다.
