The purpose of this study is to examine the employment environment of female immigrants in Korea and to suggest improvement measures as a way to seek economic independence and stable life. For this study, first, a discussion on the conceptualization of ‘the employment environment’ was conducted, and based on this, the employment status of female married immigrants was analyzed based on the ‘2018 National Multicultural Family Survey’ conducted by the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family, and it suggested a plan to improve the employment environment. The improvement of the employment environment suggested in this study is the need for active efforts of female married immigrants, understanding and cooperation of family members, and training of male spouses to understand mother tongue and culture for female marriage immigrants, as well as resolving the cultural and psychological grievances of female married immigrants. And the following were also suggested as an improvement in the institutional environment, flexible operation of social integration programs, operation of vocational Korean language courses to improve communication and job skills, providing customized employment preparation programs for consumers, strengthening promotion of employment support organizations and enhancing the expertise of dedicated staff, and certification system for female married immigrants’ home country’s academic background or qualifications. This study can be significant in that it established the category of ‘working environment’ for female marriage immigrants, and based on this, comprehensively examines the individual and institutional environments, and suggests policy improvement measures. However, it has limitations in that it was limited to exploratory research such as legal and institutional analysis, and suggestion of alternatives based on data and literature analysis. Subsequently, it is necessary to collect empirical data targeting female marriage immigrants and discuss finding practical alternatives related to their employment.

본 연구의 목적은 국내 여성결혼이민자의 경제적 자립과 안정된 생활을 모색하려는 방안으로써 이들의 취업환경을 살펴보고 개선 방안을 제시하는 데에 있다. 본 연구를 위해 먼저 ‘취업환경’의 개념화 논의를 진행하고, 이를 바탕으로 여성가족 부가 실시한 ‘2018년도 전국 다문화가족실태조사’를 중심으로 하여 여성결혼이민자의 취업 실태를 분석하였고, 분석 결과를 근거로 취업환경 개선 방안을 제언하였다. 본 연구에서 제언한 취업환경 개선사항으로 여성결혼이민자의 적극적인 노력이 필 요하다는 것과 가족 구성원의 이해와 협조, 남성 배우자 대상으로 여성결혼이민자 모 국언어와 문화 이해 교육 시행, 그리고 여성결혼이민자의 문화적·심리적 고충 해결을 제언하였고, 제도적 환경 개선으로 사회통합프로그램의 유연한 운영, 의사소통과 직무 능력 향상을 위한 직업목적 한국어 교육과정 운영, 수요자 맞춤형 취업 준비 프로그램 제공, 취업지원 기관 홍보 강화 및 전담 직원의 전문성 제고, 여성결혼이민자 모국의 학 력이나 자격 인증제도 도입 등을 제시하였다. 본 연구는 여성결혼이민자의 ‘취업환경’이라는 범주를 정하고 이를 기반으로 개인적 환경과 제도적 환경을 종합적으로 살펴보고 정책적 개선 방안을 제시하였다는 점에 의 의를 둘 수 있다. 그러나 법·제도 분석, 자료와 문헌분석을 바탕으로 한 대안 제시 등 탐 색적 연구에 그쳤다는 한계를 갖는다. 후속적으로 여성결혼이민자를 대상으로 실증적 인 데이터를 수집하여 그들의 취업과 관련한 실질적인 대안의 모색 논의가 필요하다.
