The study compared and analyzed the contents of economic education in the Korean social studies curriculum revised in 2015 and the Japanese social studies curriculum guidelines revised in 2017 and 2018. Through this, the following implications were derived. First, it is necessary to provide an opportunity to view various social phenomena from an economic perspective. Second, there is need to prepare a plan that allows access to contents such as labor, work, contracts, consumer rights, and remedies for rights at the economic level. Third, it is necessary to discuss the selection and level of economic education in the common subject “Intergrated Society”. Fourth, it is necessary to recognize that economic problems should be tackled comprehensively at the individual, corporate, and government levels. Lastly, we need to discuss the nature of economic education and ‘economic’ subjects.

본 연구에서는 2015년에 개정 고시된 우리나라 사회과 교육과정과 2017·2018년에 개정 고시된 일본 사회과 학습지도요령에서의 경제교육 내용을 비교·분석하였다. 이를 통해 다음과 같은 시사점을 도출하였다. 먼저, 다양한 사회현상을 경제적인 측면에서 조망할 수 있는 기회를 제공할 필요가 있다. 둘째, 노동, 일, 계약, 소비자 권리, 권리의 구제 등과 같은 내용을 경제적 차원에서 접근할 수 있는 방안 마련이 필요하다. 셋째, 공통과목인 ‘통합사회’에서의 경제교육 내용 선정과 수준에 대한 논의가 필요하다. 넷째, 경제 문제의 해결은 개인, 기업, 정부 차원에서 종합적으로 이루어져야 함을 인식시킬 수 있는 내용 구성이 필요하다. 다섯째, 사회과에서의 경제교육 및 ‘경제’ 과목의 성격에 대한 논의가 필요하다.
