The purpose of this study is to explore attachment experiences in the process of developing faith, especially the effect of avoidance attachment experiences and avoidance personality on faith formation. Faith means trust and loyalty to God, a transcendent. Reformed theology deals with the development and process of faith as a spiritual and mysterious realm that begins with God's call and consists of God's full grace and sovereignty. Modern psychology, by contrast, seeks to explain the formation and development of faith in psychoanalytic, cognitive and object-relational ways. Fowler's theory of religious development contributed to the systematization and structuring of abstract concepts of religious development by collecting empirical data based on cognitive and moral development theories, in addition to theological aspects of faith formation and development. Fowler's stages of faith development and development help psychologically understand the formation and development of faith in infancy and adolescence. This study discussed the importance of secure attachment experience in forming positive representations of others and God in infancy and establishing autonomy and religious identity during the growth process as adults in adolescence. Not only are secure attachments and insecure attachments important factors determining the attachment to God, but there are people who experience religious conversion in pursuit of God as an attachment figure. However, they still maintain an insecure attachment type while meeting God in an unstable state of attachment, which also complains of insecure attachment relationships and difficulties in the development of faith. In this study, the researcher discussed the connection between the experience of avoidance attachment and religious issues through a counseling case in terms of an experience of insecure attachment. The case introduced a client with avoidant personality due to avoidance attachment, and showed the difficulty of establishing religious identity and the spiritual attitude of avoiding conflicts and serious agony in spiritual judgment of career path. Pastoral applications were proposed to assist in the formation of healthy faith and development of faith. The first place of religious education was the home, and at the same time, the relationship with parents and the experience of secure attachment were important. Therefore, the need to provide the environment of religious communities was presented.

본 연구의 목적은 신앙발달 과정에 있어서 애착 경험, 특히 회피성 애착 경험과 회 피성 성격이 신앙형성에 미치는 영향과 연관성을 고찰하고자 하는 것이다. 신앙은 초 월자인 신과의 신뢰와 충성스러운 관계를 의미한다. 개혁신학은 신앙발달과 과정은 하나님의 부르심으로부터 시작되며 하나님의 전적인 은혜와 주권으로 이루어지는 영 적이고 신비로운 영역으로 다루고 있다. 그에 반하여 현대 심리학은 신앙의 형성과 발달에 대해서 정신분석적으로, 인지 발달론적으로, 대상 관계론적으로 설명하고자 한 다. 파울러의 신앙발달이론은 신앙형성과 발달에 대한 신학적 측면 외에 인지발달과 도덕성 발달이론에 기초를 두고 경험적 자료를 수집하여 추상적이었던 신앙발달에 대 한 개념을 체계화 및 구조화하는데 기여를 하였다. 파울러의 신앙발달 단계와 발달과 정은 심리학적으로 유아기와 청년기의 신앙형성과 발달에 대한 이해를 돕는다. 본 연 구는 유아기의 타인과 신에 대한 긍정적인 표상 형성과 청소년기에서 성인으로 성장 과정중에 자율성과 신앙적 정체성을 확립은 안정애착 경험이 중요하다는 연구 결과들 을 논의하였다. 부모와의 안정 애착은 하나님과의 애착 관계를 결정짓는 중요한 요인 이며 신앙적 회심을 경험하는 요소 중에 불안정 애착이 있다는 연구들을 살펴보았다. 불안정 애착 상태에서 하나님을 만나고 신앙생활을 할 때 여전히 불안정한 애착유형 의 모습을 유지하고 있을 수 있기에 불안정 애착의 신자들은 영적 정체성과 하나님과 의 관계에 대한 어려움을 호소하기도 한다. 본 연구에서는 불안정 애착 경험이 있는 한 개인의 사례를 통하여 회피 애착 경험과 신앙적 문제와의 연관성을 탐색하였다. 회피성 애착과 회피성 성격형성의 연관성을 보게 되었으며 회피성 애착으로 인한 신 앙 정체성 혼란과 진로에 대한 영적인 인식과 결정에서도 회피적인 문제 대응 방식을 취하고 있음이 나타났다. 이에 건강한 신앙형성과 신앙발달과정을 돕기 위한 목회적 적용을 제시하며 신앙형성의 출발점이자 신앙교육의 첫 장소인 가정에서 부모와의 안정 애착 경험의 중요성과 신앙공동체에서의 안정 애착 경험과 환경 제공의 필요성 을 논의하였다.
