The purpose of this study was to discover structural relationships between the middle school students’ sports participation, physical self-concepts and interpersonal relations. In order to achieve this purpose, middle school students who were residing in C metropolitan cities in 2018 were selected as the convenience sampling. After excluding incomplete survey forms, a total of 400 valid samples were analyzed. The statistical methods used for this study were confirmatory factor analysis, structure equation modeling analysis. The findings of this study are as follows: First, middle school students' sports participation has a direct influence on interpersonal relations. Second, middle school students' sports participation has a direct influence on physical self-concepts. Third, middle school students' physical self-concepts has a direct influence on interpersonal relations. Fourth, middle school students' physical self-concepts has a mediation influence between sport participation and interpersonal relations.

본 연구는 중학생들의 대인관계능력을 향상시키기 위한 접근으로서 스포츠 참여와 신체적 자기 개념 및 대인관계능력에 대한 인과관계를 검증하여 중학생들의 대인관계능력을 향상시키기 위한 스포츠 참여의 역할과 건전한 자기개념의 인식을 마련하는 데 그 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 C도에 거주하고 있는 중학생들을 모집단으로 설정하고 편의표본추출 방법을 이용하여 총 400명을 대상 으로 자료를 분석하였다. 설문지는 확인적 요인분석(CFA)을 실시하여 타당성을 확보하였으며, 자 료 분석은 구조방정식 모형분석(SEM)을 실시하였다. 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 중학생들의 스포츠 참여는 대인관계능력에 직접적인 영향을 미친다. 둘째, 중학생들의 스포츠 참여는 신체적 자기개념에 직접적인 영향을 미친다. 셋째, 중학생들의 신체적 자기개념은 대인관계능력에 직접적 인 영향을 미친다. 넷째, 중학생들의 신체적 자기개념은 스포츠 참여와 대인관계능력 사이에서 부 분매개역할을 한다.
