We live in nihilism in modern era. This is due to the death of the god as Nietzsche said. The death of God destroyed the house of meaning of human beings. Nevertheless, even if the modern people removed the god, but left only the place of the god in order to keep the house of meaning and tried to replace and fill the place with other things. However, the loss of meaning continued through the secularization, de-mythization and de-magicalization of the Enlightenment, and now we live in the era of absolute nihilism. Therefore, there is a demand to summon the sacredness again in order to rebuild the house of meaning. But how can you overcome nihilism? I believe that we have to restore the community that can build a belief system in which God or sacredness is formed, and establish the right leadership to lead such a community. The right leadership here is said to be able to present the source of sacredness and meaning to all members. The right leadership should be based on hermeneutic experience aimed at mutual understanding of the community, not management efficiency. Through this, the leader should play a role as a symbolic carrier that guides the sacredness and meaning to appear in human consciousness rather than revealing himself. As such hermeneutic leader, the most representative figure in history was Jesus. In this article, I am going to examine how Jesus exerted a new understanding of existence for sacredness and meaning while exerting a transformational leadership in what respects and in what way.

현대는 허무주의를 살고 있다. 이는 니체가 말하는 신의 죽음에 기인하고 있다. 그러나 신의 죽음은 지금까지 인간이 만들었던 의미의 집을 붕괴시켰다. 그럼에도 의미의 집을 계속 유지하기 위해서 근대인들은 신은 제거했지만 신의 자리만은 남겨두었고 그 자리에 계속 다른 것들로 치환해서 채워 넣으려고 노력했다. 그렇지만 계몽주의의 세속화, 탈신화화, 탈마법화를 통해서 의미의 상실은 계속 이어졌고 이제는 우리는 절대 허무주의 시대에 살게 되었다. 따라서 의미의 집을 다시 건축하기 위해서는 성스러움을 다시 소환할 요구가 등장한다. 그렇다면 어떻게 허무주의를 극복할 수 있을 것인가? 연구자는 신 또는 성스러움이 형성되는 믿음 체계를 구축할 수 있는 공동체의 회복과 그리고 그런 공동체를 이끌어갈 수 있는 올바른 리더십을 세울 필요가 있다고 생각한다. 여기서 올바른 리더십은 모든 구성원들에게 성스러움과 의미의 근원을 제시할 수 있는 것이어 한다. 올바른 리더십은 경영학적 효율성이 아닌 공동체 상호간의 이해를 지향하는 해석학적 경험에 바탕을 두고 있어야 한다. 이를 통해 리더는 자신을 드러내기 보다는 성스러움과 의미를 인간의 의식에 나타나도록 인도하는 상징 전달자로서 역할을 수행해야 한다. 이런 해석학적 리더로서 역사상 가장 대표적인 인물이 바로 예수였다. 이 글에서 연구자는 과연 예수가 어떤 측면에서 어떤 변혁적 리더십을 발휘하면서 성스러움과 의미에 대한 새로운 존재 이해를 유대 사회에 던졌는지를 살펴본다.
