The 112 report response system operated by the police is the first line of contact to protect the lives and bodies of citizens. Through this system, citizens request police services and enter the criminal justice system when the case is determined as a crime. Interactions between citizens and police officers are recorded in the 112 report data, which is of great value. However, the 112 data have not been fully utilized. In this study, Exploratory Data Analysis as a big data analysis was applied to explore about 50,000 cases of 112 report data per year by one police station. This analysis aims to comprehend the structure of data, and is mainly used to find patterns inductively. Python's Pandas and QGIS were used as analysis programs, and visualized the data as much as possible by analyzing quantitative/qualitative and spatial data. Through Pandas, properties of variables and correlations between variables were explored, and correlations and dependencies inherent in geographic space were examined through the QGIS program. Through this, in-depth identification of patterns and related problems were suggested. In the future, it is expected that a police department will use Exploratory Data Analysis for decision-makings in response to crime and social problems.

경찰에서 운용하는 112 신고대응체계는 시민들의 생명과 신체를 보호하기 위한 최일선 의 접점으로, 이 체계를 통해 시민들은 경찰 서비스를 요청하며 해당 사안이 범죄로 판단 이 되면 형사사법체계에 진입하게 된다. 이러한 시민과 경찰관 간 상호작용을 데이터화한 것이 112 신고자료로 그 가치는 매우 크다. 하지만, 아직까지 이에 대한 활용 정도는 크지 않다. 본 연구에서는 빅 데이터 분석 중 탐색적 자료 분석(Exploratory Data Analysis) 기법 을 적용하여 한 경찰서의 1년간 112 신고자료 약 5만건을 탐색하였다. 탐색적 자료 분석은 자료의 구조를 이해하는 것을 목적으로 하며, 귀납적으로 패턴을 찾는데 주요하게 활용된 다. 분석 프로그램은 Python의 Pandas와 QGIS를 활용하였고, 양적/질적 자료 및 공간적 자료를 분석하여 시각화를 시도하였다. Pandas를 통해 변수들의 속성 및 변수들 간의 상관 관계를 탐색하였고, QGIS 프로그램을 통해 지리적 공간에 내재된 상관성 및 종속성을 확 인하였다. 이를 통해 심층적인 패턴 확인과 그에 따른 문제를 제시하였다. 향후 경찰서 단 위에서 범죄 및 사회문제 대응 관련 의사결정을 위해 탐색적 자료 분석기법을 활용하기를 기대한다.
