A study of Airbnb host’s withdrawal intention: A social exchange perspective on crisis response to the COVIE-19 pandemic

초록

영어

Due to the major shock caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and unpredictable situation, service providers of the sharing economy suffer from concerns over loss and anxiety of uncertain future. In particular, Airbnb hosts are exposed to severe damage than suppliers in any other sharing business because of certain characteristics of the Airbnb business. In the crisis, Airbnb hosts expect a proper response and protection from the platform as an organization to minimize the damage. This study employed social exchange theory as a general framework to understand the social exchange relationship between the suppliers and the platform in the external crisis. The results showed that there is significant causality between perceived crisis response, attitude toward Airbnb, and withdrawal intention.
