This paper aims to analyze the Xi Jinping Thought from the perspective of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP)’s ideological strategy and reason out its intentions and ideological implications. Since Reform and Opening Up, the CCP has utilized ideologies as political means, and the CCP’s ideological strategy has played a great role in according legitimacy to the CCP with great economic performance, its political institutionalization, and the stability of Chinese society. In that sense, the Xi Jinping Thought also has several ideological implications. First, it solidifies Xi Jinping’s political power by providing a great ideological authority. Second, it helps the CCP secure legitimacy by reconciling the CCP’s ruling and China’s bright future. Third, it contains the demand for political change to Western democracy by stressing Chinese characteristics and differentiating China and the West. Fourth, it induces the Chinese’s unity by suggesting China as a great power in the international society. From the perspective of the ideological strategy, the Xi Jinping Thought has played a positive role in consolidating Xi’s political power with the intention to offset the public’s resistance against the CCP.

본 연구는 중국공산당 이데올로기 전략의 관점에서 시진핑 사상을 분석하고 그 의도와 이데올로기적 함의를 도출하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 개혁개방 이후 중국공산당은 당의 응집과 유지를 위해서, 그리고 대중으로부터 통치 정당성을 확보하기 위해서 이데올로기를 하나의 정치 수단으로 활용하여 왔다. 중국공산 당의 이데올로기 전략은 급속한 경제성장, 정치의 제도화와 사회 안정 등 외적 성과와 함께 중국공산당에게 통치 정당성을 부여하는 데에 큰 역할을 하였다. 이러한 관점에서 시진핑 사상은 몇 가지 이데올로기적 함의를 가지고 있다. 첫 째, 시진핑에게 이념적 권위를 부여하고 권력을 견고히 한다. 둘째, 중국공산당 의 통치와 중국의 미래 비전을 일치시켜 통치 정당성을 확보한다. 셋째, 중국 특색을 강조하고 중국과 서구를 구별하여 서구 가치의 보편성을 부정함으로써 서구식 민주주의로의 정치변동 요구를 억제한다. 넷째, 강대국으로서의 중국을 부각하여 중국인들의 단결과 일체감을 도모한다. 이러한 시진핑 사상은 경제성 과나 사회 안정과 같은 외부 지표가 흔들리는 현 시점에서 중국공산당이 직면 할 수 있는 당 내 비판과 대중의 저항을 상쇄하는 의도를 지니고 있으며, 시진 핑이 자신의 권력을 강화하는 데에 긍정적인 역할을 하고 있다.
