This study empirically analyzes the changes and characteristics of the mutual production technology gap and the dependency relation between the two countries during the period from 2000 to 2015. It focuses on quantifying the level of technology between Korea and China and estimating why Korea’s trade surplus with China is shrinking. Empirical analysis was conducted by introducing the International Technological Specialization of International Input-Output Model. As a result of the analysis, Korea ‘s trade surplus with China is due to factors of Manufacturing Technological and Intermediate Input Coefficient. This can be interpreted as a result of the lack of source technology in China and the relatively weak base of production technology. In particular, the reliance on imports of electrical and electronic components to Korea was very high, and China ‘s trade deficit with Korea was remarkable. On the other hand, Korea’s Part Material industry has been steadily increasing its reliance on imports from China, including electricity, electronics, chemicals, and metals. This has been observed as a structural factor in the reduction of trade surplus in China.

본 연구는 2000년, 2005년, 2010년과 2015년 4시점을 통해 한중간 소재부품 산업의 상호 생산기술격차와 이에 따른 의존관계의 변화와 특성을 실증적으로 분석함으로써, 양국간 기술수준을 정량적으로 파악하여, 한국의 대중국 무역흑 자가 왜 축소되고 있는가를 추계하는데 초점을 두고 있다. 실증분석은 국제산 업연관모형의 국제기술분업도지수를 도입하여 측정하였다. 분석결과, 한국의 대중국 무역흑자 현상은 생산기술 요인과 중간재투입 요인 에 의한 것으로 나타나, 중국의 원천기술 부재와 이에 따른 생산기술 기반이 상대적으로 취약한데 기인한다고 해석할 수 있다. 특히 전기⋅전자부품의 대한 국 수입의존도는 매우 높게 나타나, 중국의 대한국 무역적자가 현저한 것으로 파악되었다. 반면 한국 소재부품산업 역시 4시점을 통해 전기⋅전자, 화학, 금 속 등에서 꾸준히 대중국 수입의존도가 상승하고 있으며, 이는 생산기술수준 차이 축소와 함께, 최근 대중국 무역흑자 폭 축소 현상의 구조적 요인으로 관 찰되었다.
