This study aims to find the meaning of ‘the supreme good’ in the Olympics. As for the research method, this study was conducted with the method of literature exploration of Aristotle’s Ethics of Nikomachos and literature related to ‘the supreme good.’ The results of the study are as follows. Sportsmanship can be said to be intellectual excellence in the Olympics. Sportsmanship is a virtue all players participating in games must have. This virtue requires long experience and time. Also, sportsmanship is not made naturally but is the excellence sports ethics experts can have only when they have thorough sports ethics education consistently and intentionally. Fair play can be said to be moral excellence in the Olympics. Fair play means playing games fair and square without using a trick or foul in the same conditions. Fair play is only done only players must habituate since they are elementary school players. According to Aristotle’s discussion, the ‘the supreme good’ in the Olympics is intellectual excellence and moral excellence. Intellectual excellence is sportsmanship resulting from education, and moral excellence is fair play resulting from habit. In other words, in the Olympics, the ‘the supreme good’ is sportsmanship and fair play.

이 연구의 목적은 올림픽에서 ‘最高善’의 의미를 찾는 것에 있다. 연구방법은 아리스토텔레스의 󰡔니코마코스 윤리 학󰡕과 ‘最高善’에 관련된 문헌을 고찰하는 문헌탐구의 방법으로 진행하였다. 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 올림픽에서 지적 탁월성은 스포츠맨십이라고 할 수 있다. 스포츠맨십은 경기에 참가하는 모든 선수들에게 반드시 필요한 덕목이다. 이 덕목은 오랜 경험과 시간을 필요로 한다. 그리고 스포츠맨십은 그냥 만들어지는 것이 아니라 스포츠윤리 전문가에게 스포 츠윤리 교육을 철저하게 받아야지만 생기는 탁월성이다. 올림픽에서 도덕적 탁월성은 페어플레이라고 할 수 있다. 페어플 레이는 똑같은 상황에서 속임수나 반칙을 사용하지 않고, 정정당당하게 경기에 임하는 것을 의미한다. 페어플레이는 초등 학교 운동선수 때부터 습관을 들여야지만 가능하다. 아리스토텔레스의 논의에 의하면, 올림픽에서 ‘最高善’은 지적 탁월성과 도덕적 탁월성이다. 지적 탁월성은 교육의 결과로 생기는 스포츠맨십이고, 도덕적 탁월성은 습관의 결과로 생기 는 페어플레이다. 즉, 올림픽에서 ‘最高善’은 스포츠맨십과 페어플레이라고 할 수 있다.
