In this study, a qualitative study was conducted through a meeting with a military commander who worked with multicultural soldiers among military officials to derive efficient operation plans for multicultural soldiers who are in charge of national defense. The background of the study is: First, did multicultural soldiers help the military? Second, what are the difficulties of multicultural soldiers in their military lives? Third, what kind of help do they need? Fourth, who should help them and how? approached with the idea that First of all, the working-level officials' opinions on the practical adaptation of multicultural soldiers were more positive than negative, and most expressed their opinions that multicultural soldiers were not different from other soldiers. Second, multicultural soldiers seem to be suffering from prejudice and prejudice against other appearances during their military life. Therefore, in order to solve this problem, our society should strengthen multicultural acceptability education from the stage before joining the military. Third, there are opinions that there is no need for special help before joining multicultural soldiers, but the opinion of research participants that there is a need for help is dominant, so it is believed that interest and support measures for multicultural soldiers in our society are needed.Fourth, many people said that the multicultural military enlistment system should be implemented without distinction from the general military enlistment system. In particular, it was analyzed that it was necessary to strengthen multicultural acceptability education at the national level and to use professional instructors for education in the military before joining the military. The results of the research are believed to be meaningful not only in terms of human rights protection but also in terms of accident prevention when reflected in policy and practical management.

본 연구에서는 국방의 일익을 맡고 있는 다문화 장병에 대한 지원방안과 국방 인적자원으로의 효율적인 운영방안 도출을 위해 군의 간부 중에 다문화 장병들과 근무한 경험이 있는 군 지휘관(자)와의 면담을 통한 질적연구를 수행하였다. 연구배경은 첫째 다문화 장병은 군에 도움이 되었는가?, 둘째 다문화 장병이 군 생활 중 어떤 어려움이 있는가?, 셋째 다문화 장병은 어떤 도움이 필요한가? 넷째 이들을 누가 어떻게 도와야 하는가? 라는 생각으로 접근하였다. 연구결과는 첫째, 다문화 장병의 실무 적응에 대해 실무 간부들의 의견은 부정적인 의견보다는 긍정적인 의견이 많았으며, 대다수가 다문화 장병은 다른 병사와 다르지 않다는 의견을 표하였다. 둘째, 다문화 장병들이 군생활 중 다른 외모에 대한 편견과 선입견으로 고통을 받고 있는 것으로 보인다. 따라서 이 문제를 해결하기 위해 우리사회는 장병 입대 전 단계부터 다문화 수용성 교육을 강화해야 할 것이다. 셋째, 다문화 장병 입대 전 특별한 도움이 필요가 없다는 의견도 있지만, 도움이 필요하다는 연구 참여자들의 의견이 우세한 것으로 보아 우리사회의 다문화 장병에 대한 관심과 지원책이 필요할 것으로 판단된다. 넷째, 다문화 장병 입대제도는 일반장병 입대제도와 구분이 없이 실시해야 한다는 의견이 다수였다. 특히 입대 전에 국가적 차원의 국민 다문화 수용성교육 강화 그리고 군내 교육 시 전문강사를 활용한 교육이 필요하다는 분석을 얻을 수 있었다. 연구결과는 정책 및 실무관리에 반영 시 인권보호 차원뿐만 아니라 사고예방 차원의 대책으로도 의미가 있으리라 판단된다.
