The current study investigated the relationship between self-discrepancy and social anxiety and mediating effects of fear of positive/negative evaluation in college students. In particular, this study focused on the inconsistency between the actual self and the ought self imposed on oneself and the inconsistency between the actual self and the ought self that significant others expect. This study collected data of 300 university students through online questionnaire survey and the collected data were analyzed using Structural Equation. the result of the analysis are a follow. The self-discrepancy between the actual self and the ought self imposed on oneself was found to affect the social anxiety through a full mediation of fear of positive evaluation and fear of negative evaluation. The self-discrepancy between the actual self and the ought self imposed on significant others was found to affect the social anxiety through a full mediation of fear of negative evaluation. This study confirmed that the degree of correspondence between the actual self and the ought self has an influence on social anxiety, and that fear of positive evaluation as well as fear of negative evaluation are important variables in predicting social anxiety.

본 연구에서는 대학생의 자기불일치가 사회불안에 미치는 영향을 긍정적 평가에 대한 두려움 과 부정적 평가에 대한 두려움이 매개하는지 검증하고자 하였으며, 자기가 생각하는 실제 자 기와 자신에게 부과하는 의무적 자기 간의 불일치 및 타인이 기대하는 의무적 자기 간의 불 일치를 살펴보았다. 대학생 300명을 대상으로 온라인 방식의 자기보고식 설문을 실시하여 2 개의 자기불일치 유형에 따라 구조방정식 모형을 분석하였다. 분석 결과, 실제적 자기와 의무 /자신 간의 자기불일치는 긍정적 평가에 대한 두려움과 부정적 평가에 대한 두려움이 완전 매개하여 사회불안에 영향을 미치는 것으로 확인되었으며, 실제적 자기와 의무/타인 간의 자 기불일치는 부정적 평가에 대한 두려움을 완전 매개하여 사회불안에 영향을 미치는 것으로 확인되었다. 본 연구에서는 실제 자기의 모습과 기대되는 의무적 자기 모습의 일치 정도가 사회불안에 영향을 미치는 것을 확인할 수 있었으며, 부정적 평가에 대한 두려움뿐만 아니라 긍정적 평가에 대한 두려움도 사회불안을 예측하는 중요한 변인임을 확인할 수 있었다.
