The purpose of this study is to analyze the characteristics of instructional explanations offered by elementary pre-service teachers. To this end, 25 elementary school pre-service teachers were asked to produce a video explaining the word problems related to the greatest common factor. To analyze the characteristics of instructional explanations offered by elementary pre-service teachers, three analysis categories were established: identifying the parts that need explanation, linking the explanation steps, and utilizing examples. As a result, method of the pre-service teachers’explanation of word problems could be divided into ‘explaining only the procedure of obtaining the greatest common factor',‘explaining the reason why obtaining the greatest common factor', and ‘explaining the meaning of the problem situation'. We also specifically present features with examples separated by good explanations in each category.

본 연구는 초등예비교사의 문장제 설명 방식에서 나타나는 특징을 분석하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 이를 위해, 초등예비교사 25명에게 최대공약수와 관련된 문장제를 설명하는 동영상을 제작하도록 하고 이를 분석하였다. 예비교사의 설명하기 특징을 분석하기 위해, 설명이 필요한 부분 파악, 설명 단계의 연계성, 예의 활용의 3가지 분석범주를 설정하였고, 각 범주에 따른 분석결과를 토대로 3가지 설명 유형을 도 출하였다. 그 결과 예비교사의 문장제 설명 방식은‘최대공약수 구하는 절차만 설 명’,‘최대공약수 구하는 이유 설명’, ‘문제 상황의 의미 설명’ 으로 구분할 수 있었다. 또한 각 범주에서 좋은 설명으로 구분된 사례가 지닌 특징을 구체적으 로 제시하였다.
