This study focused on the recent global outbreak of Coronavirus Infectious Disease-19 (Corona 19) that had an overall impact on the marine industry, and aimed to analyze major issues related to seafarers in particular. To this end, using Bigkinds, a news big data and analysis service of the Korea Press Foundation, extracts news articles related to seafarers before (2019) and after (2020) Corona 19, and analyzes keyword trends and related words. And the relationship was also analyzed and visualized. As a result of the study, the number of news articles collected was 7,459 in 2019, and 7,446 in 2020. In the case of 2019, major issues related to seafarers were matters related to incidents and accidents such as Foreigners, Golden Ray, Coast Guard, Daesung-ho, Patrol ships, Ministry of Unification, Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, Families, and Captured Sea Areas, but in 2020, Corona 19 , Busan Port, Confirmed Case, Gamcheon Port, Russian Ships, Quarantine Stations, and Ocean Fishing Vessels, etc. As shown in the news analysis results, it was found that the major issue related to sailors in 2020 compared to 2019 was Corona 19. Most of the incidents and accidents were reported in the media about seafarers, but it is believed that news related to the confirmed case of Russian sailors in Busan was reported most frequently, which formed negative public opinion on the perception of seafarers. It is the time when a policy alternative that can form a positive public opinion on seafarers playing a key role in the maritime industry is needed.

이 연구는 최근 코로나바이러스감염증-19(코로나19)의 세계적 유행이 해양산업에 전반적인 영향을 끼친 것에 주목하고, 특히 선원과 관련된 주요 이슈를 분석하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 한국언론진흥재단의 뉴스 빅데이터 및 분석 서비스인 빅카인즈 (Bigkinds)를 이용하여 코로나19 발생 이전(2019년)과 이후(2020년) 선원과 관련된 뉴스기사를 추출하여 키워드 트렌드, 연관어 분석 및 관계도 분석을 실시하고 시각 화하여 나타내었다. 연구 결과 수집된 뉴스 기사는 2019년 7,459건이었으며, 2020년은 7,446건이었다. 2019년도의 경우 선원과 관련된 주요 이슈는 외국인, 골든레이호, 경비대, 대성호, 경 비함정, 통일부, 해양수산부, 가족들, 나포 해역 등 사건·사고 관련된 사항이었으나, 2020년은 코로나19, 확진자, 부산항, 확진 판정, 감천항, 러시아 선박, 검역소, 원양어 선 등 코로나19 관련 뉴스가 대부분으로 나타났다. 뉴스 분석 결과에도 나타났듯이 2019년에 비해 2020년의 선원 관련 주요 이슈는 코로나19였다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 평소 선원 관련 언론 보도가 사건·사고 내용이 대부분이었는데, 부산 지역의 러시아 선원 확진 관련 뉴스가 가장 많이 보도가 되어 선원에 대한 인식에 부정적인 여론을 형성하였다고 판단된다. 해양산업에 있어서 핵심 역할을 수행하는 선원에 대한 긍정 적인 여론을 형성할 수 있는 정책적인 대안이 필요한 시점이다.
