This paper presents a study of 'curating through faction' and continues previous studies that researched the relationship between faction and art criticism. This study of 'curating/faction' explores a practical methodology along with several theories related to pragmatics. Chapter 2 defines the concept of the semantics of “art criticism/faction” and the pragmatics theory of “curating/faction,” connecting them through linguistics, communication studies, and semiotics. In Chapter 3, the methodology of pragmatics is explored through the “Osgood and Schramm Model,” two-way communication, and the applied “curating/faction model.” In Chapter 4, we analyze an exhibition entitled the "Death of Curator Mr. P" as an actual case study and explore the pragmatics methodology of 'Curating/Faction', which opens up various 'worlds of possibility' with the open interpretation of visitors and the encoding effect that it drives. Through these studies, an experimental model will be presented of the practical methodology of curating based on a faction theme.

본 연구는 팩션과 미술비평의 관계를 모색했던 선행 연구를 잇는다. 이 연구에서는 팩션을 통한 큐레이팅을 ‘큐레이팅/팩션’ 이라는 이름으로 화용론과 연관된 여러 이론과 함께 실제적 방법론을 탐구한다. 제2장에서는 ‘미술비평/팩션’의 의미론 개념 과 그것을 잇는 ‘큐레이팅/팩션’의 화용론 개념을 언어학, 커뮤니케이션학, 기호학을 통해서 정의한다. 제3장에서는 쌍방형 커 뮤니케이션 모델인 ‘오스굿과 쉬람 모델(The Osgood and Schramm Model, 1954)’과 그것을 응용한 ‘큐레이팅/팩션 모델’을 통해서 화용론의 방법론을 탐구한다. 제4장에서는 기획전 전시기획자 P씨의 죽음을 실제적 사례로 분석하면서 관람자의 자유 로운 해석과 여러 ‘가능성의 세계’를 열어 두는 ‘큐레이팅/팩션’의 구체적인 화용론적 방법론과 그것이 견인하는 인코딩 효과 를 분석한다. 이러한 연구를 통해서 팩션을 테마로 한 큐레이팅의 실천적 방법론에 관한 한 모델을 제시한다.
