Wolfhart Pannenberg claims that the revelation of God is objective. In other words, if an event or experience turns out to be revelatory, such a judgement is not involved with the subjectivity of the recipient of the revelation. For what is disclosed through revelation (i.e. truth) is not dependent upon the changeable criterion of human self. Rather, it relies on the inner criterion of truth itself. In that sense, revelation is God’s selfrevelation. Furthermore, the natural knowledge of God, which is innately and universally given, becomes specified via God’s action in time. Revelation, therefore, anticipates the future in which God fully manifests Godself and, thereby, God’s selfrevelation is consummated. Just as stated thus far, Pannenberg highlights the objectivity of God’s revelation. This article critically examines such an argument of Pannenberg. This attempt will contribute to resolving the problems of Korean churches that tend to underline the subjective side of revelation by highlighting the objective aspect of revelation and thereby retrieving the holistic sense of revelation.

볼프하르트 판넨베르크에게 있어서 하나님의 계시는 객관적인 것이 다. 하나님의 계시가 객관적이라고 함은 어떠한 사건이나 경험이 신적 계 시로 판단될 때, 주관적인 영감이나 인간의 해석을 요청하지 않는다는 것 을 의미한다. 계시를 통해 드러나는 것은 참된 것으로서, 진리이며, 신적인 것이다. 어떠한 사건이나 경험이 참된 것으로 판단되었다면, 그 판단은 인 간의 가변적인 기준을 통해 참된 것으로 판단되는 것이 아니라 진리의 내 적 기준을 통해 참된 것으로 판단된다. 그러므로 참된 것이 폭로되는 계시 는 인간의 주관성에 의존하지 않고, 궁극적으로 참되고, 진실된 것, 곧 신 적인 것 그 자체에 의존한다. 그러므로 계시는 하나님의 자기계시이다. 나 아가 보편적으로 주어져 있는 하나님에 대한 암묵적인 앎, 자연적인 앎은 역사 안에서 발생하는 하나님의 행동에 의해 구체화되며, 실현된다. 다시 말해, 인간에게 보편적으로, 내적인 형태로 주어져 있는 하나님에 대한 자 연적인 앎은 시간 안에서의 하나님 행위에 의해 증명되고, 구체화되며, 가 시화된다. 이러한 맥락에서 하나님의 계시는 미래를 가리키며, 시간의 끝 인 종말에 하나님의 종말론적 행위에 의해 완성될 것이다. 이렇듯 판넨베 르크에게 있어서 하나님의 계시는 객관적인 것이다. 본고는 이러한 판넨베 르크 계시 이해의 객관적 층위에 대한 강조를 심층적으로 다룬다. 계시의 객관적 층위를 고찰하는 본 작업은 계시가 지나치게 주관적인 것으로 오해 되고 있는 한국교회에 경종을 울리고, 통전적으로 계시를 이해하는 데 기여할 것이다.
