The innovation cluster is a cluster in which the role of an innovation support organization is emphasized and spread naturally in the creation and process of new knowledge. As a regional cluster, Daedeok Innopolis is structured with basic science research institutes, corporate research institutes, venture companies and related industries, and innovation of knowledge bases is possible anytime, anywhere. Although it depends on the connection between science, industry, products, and companies, Daeduck Innopolis satisfies the level as a cluster and is no less than Silicon Valley in the United States. Unfortunately, outwardly, it is. 혁신클러스터는 새로운 지식의 창출 및 확산 과정에 혁신지원기관의 역할이 강조되거나 자연스럽게 지식이 전파되는 클러스터이다. 지역클러스터로서 대덕특구는 기초과학연구소, 기업연구소, 벤처기업 및 관련 산업 등이 구조적으로 형성되어 있으며 지식기반의 혁신이 언제, 어디서나 가능하다. 과학, 산업, 제 품, 그리고 기업의 연계성에 따라 다르겠지만 대덕특구는 클러스터로서 수준을 충분히 만족하고 있으며 잠재력은 미국의 실리콘밸리 못지않다. 아쉽게도 외형적으로 보면 그렇다. 문제의 해결책은 국가산업 경 쟁력이 클러스터를 중심으로 형성되었다고 보았던 Porter(1998)의 주장에서 찾아볼 때 혁신적인 소기업 즉 벤처가 진입할 수 있는 공간을 충분히 준비하라는 충고이다. 그냥 기업이 아니라 혁신적인 기업이다.
