Ecclesiastes belongs to wisdom literature in the Old Testament, and it is difficult that preacher compose a sermon with Ecclesiastes because it’s author seems to insists on ‘Everything is vapor’ pessimistically. In addition, as Ecclesiastes has a cohesive literary connected poorly, especially several passages of Ecclesiastes used to be generally overlooked or ignored sermon texts. However, if preacher think Ecclesiastes as a sermon, he(she) can understand the structure, the unity and the rhetoric of Ecclesiastes. This is because it can be a sermon that was wrote by Qoheleth as preacher with Genesis chapter 1-4. In fact, Roger N. Whybray spoke that Qoheleth as preacher said real joy in Creator. And John Phillips insists on Ecclesiastes consists of twelve sermons. Therefore, this paper is to study Ecclesiastes as Preaching. To begin with, this article delves into the elements of homiletics(preacher, sermon text and audience) in Ecclesiastes. Secondly, this paper search for the structure, the unity and the rhetoric of Ecclesiastes as a sermon by using Aristotle’s Ethos, Logos and Pathos.

전도서는 구약 성경 가운데 지혜 문학에 속하며, 설교자들은 일반적 으로 전도서를 설교하는 것을 상당히 부담스러워한다. 왜냐하면 전도 서의 저자는 마치 세상 모든 것이 헛된 것이라고 주장하는 염세주의자 와 유사하기 때문이다. 거기에 설교자는 전도서에 속한 일부 본문들을 설교 본문으로 선택하는 것을 주저하곤 한다. 바로 전도서의 내용들이 마치 느슨한 문학적 구조로 연결되어 있는 양상을 보이기 때문이다. 그러나 만일, 설교자가 전도서를 한 편의 설교문으로 생각할 수 있으 면, 전도서에 나타난 구조와 통일성, 그리고 수사 기법들을 설교학적 관점에서 이해할 수 있을 것이다. 왜냐하면 사실 상, 전도서는 설교자 인 코헬렛이 창세기 1-4장을 중심으로 설교한 한 편의 설교문일 가능 성이 농후하기 때문이다. 실제로, Roger N.
